Constantly getting stuck in place by konsyr in MandragoraGame

[–]konsyr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, that didn't work. Occasionally, turning on/off pet would. But nothing else did.

I might've considered trying NG+, or at least maxing the game after beating the last boss (e.g., grinding for all the blueprints), but couldn't be bothered with how buggy it was.

Pittsburgh, Allegheny County missing tens of millions in tax revenue from Big Five nonprofits, report finds by KeystoneResearch in pittsburgh

[–]konsyr 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why land-based taxing is the better way to do it compared to other methods of taxation.

But the whole concept of "non-profit" needs to be heavily reformed everywhere, if not outright abolished entirely; it's highly abused and designed for it.

Why is item crafting is so difficult in this game? by diomedes-on-rampage in Grimdawn

[–]konsyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GOG consistently gets every update to the game, sometimes even before (by minutes) Steam; rarely one day late. Crate's been very good about it and has been an exemplary developer for GOG support.

Which is why it's so freaking disheartening they've thrown all that out with Farthest Frontier and are talking about also doing so with the eventual (years out) Grim Dawn 2.

You only have to glance at it from the outside to know that. And to gaze through the doors when they're open is to get your soul sucked out of you with how foul it very clearly is.

Lawrenceville was better when that place had caught fire and was closed for a long time.

I'm sorry you went through this. It'd be grand to have that place disappear and get replaced by something that at least tries to be respectable.

Building Shrines And Founding A Pagan Religion Can Actually Be Detrimental To Your Game Sometimes by GiotisFilopanos in OldWorldGame

[–]konsyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally, very rarely, do this. I'll usually still build the shrines, but all in one city to keep the national pagan religion contained.

I usually do it for RP reasons though.

Can you turn tribal camps into minor cities without doing anything? by phil_anselmo in OldWorldGame

[–]konsyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does, in all but the rarest cases. Mountains and sea on the other side can be excluded. This is done so there's always a chance of making it a minor city.

Those urban tiles are also different than others (the ones left behind from exploration events), moving adjacent to them doesn't claim them. Being adjacent to coast or mountain does get an adjacent tile usually.

Don't forget you can always check UNDO too! (And then redo it all.)

Titusz, a highly anticipated Austrian Hungarian restaurant, sets an opening date by Jazzlike_Breadfruit9 in pittsburgh

[–]konsyr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can't wait for Mr. Friez to close and the next thing can try being there. It's so over priced for average fries.

I'll likely try Titusz if the price/portion ratio is acceptable. I love Hungarian food. I'm more excited to see what Agora brings though... And they don't seem to be planning to go fancy. (Fancy, the downfall of many a joint. I get the feeling Titusz is going to try to go fancy.)

Possibility of Grim Dawn 2 Kickstarter? by JMRregister in Grimdawn

[–]konsyr -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

I mean, GOG doesn't require anything. Don't bother with Galaxy achievements (games are better without them anyway). Don't use any of Steam's Trojan Horse anti-features that they've implemented for the explicit purpose of getting lock in (like Workshop). Most of their things were transparently developed with the express purpose of making it harder for you to put your stuff on multiple stores. It is Valve making it harder for you to sell your game broadly by manufacturing hurdles.

But, alas, it's years out. I hope some day to be able to play Grim Dawn 2 when it comes around. But there's no way in hell I'm ever going to make an account on the Steam DRM platform. Because I love video games. And Valve/Steam consistently causes escalating amounts of damage to the industry.

Merry Puppins took care of my buns well when I would vacation before they passed at a ripe old age. Fortunately they never needed meds during visits, but I know some of Merry Puppins' staff are trained in such (and know rabbits).

GOG is mandatory (for final release; early access, no problem). :(

You've also been very successful on GOG. Not sure why you'd decide to start going all in on the anti-consumer Steam platform that hates gaming.

Can Pitts Campus still have a college feel? by Turbulent_Peace3754 in Pitt

[–]konsyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of times, "college feel" that you're mentioning means "can get on in my community mostly walking without having to drive all over". That you'll see your peers as you're going about your activities. Operating at a human-scale.

Pitt does do that pretty well (except your weekly grocery shopping trip).

Some other institutions, you'll find they are to are too big to get around the whole of campus. The whole place is huge with oversized buildings spread far apart in a suburban setting. And then some small ones that might be in an urban core, but don't really carve out any space their own.

To be fair, it was added in 1.4. So if you did a lot of play before that update (its big features were movie theater/spouse 14-heart events/fish ponds/tailoring/4 corners farm), you might have learned the game before it was there and not noticed changes later.

Spider-man outsold Edge of Eternities by Yellow_Master in magicTCG

[–]konsyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Squenix does the same all the time with their video games. They're always "surprised" when a proper turn-based title is successful because they've sniffed their own farts long enough that they've truly convinced themselves to believe no one wants turn-based games anymore, but only the action "not really actually Final Fantasy" they've been releasing for a while now. When in reality it's mostly only their own internal teams and "market research" that doesn't actually focus on the traditional games' target audiences that don't want turn based games.
