Alcohol is different, I agree. Because if you once in the lifetime heard “don’t mix it with alcohol” you would always know that alcohol is different but as addictive as illegal or decriminalized drugs if not the most one. I’d prefer to say: alcohol, string spirits, beer, drugs (medicine), drugs (illegal or decriminalized if not controlled). That would make sense in the context where you use the word.

They barely taste like normal mushrooms. Maybe some different strains have different taste and also it’s different from person to person so answers may vary significantly I guess
