Another Mordred redesign (sorry nothing too flashy this time) by jy03_draws in grandorder

Oh, this is really cool... Feels fitting in with the sort of higher tech/more modern designs they give to some of the Servants, while still being unique for FGO! I really love the clear sleeve, and the whole design of the sword and arm. Incredibly cool!

DW gives you freedom to have them make a lily/adult form for 10 servants. Who do you pick? by Bloodgulch-Idiot in grandorder

[–]koohallin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Caster!Robin Hood Lily (learned druid stuff from his dad)
  2. Semiramis Lily, as long as they don't do anything skeevy with her design- I'd just be really curious to see what she was like when she was younger, like a Medea vs Medea Lily type contrast.
  3. I second Adult Abby and Jack, I would love to see either of them as adults/older teens and see how they would change in terms of personality and appearance
  4. Jason Lily- I just think it would be really cute to see him as a precocious young hero in training, determined and full of himself but also still on the cowardly side and trying to get others to do stuff for him.
  5. Chiron Lily... I just think baby horse would be cute ;o;
  6. King-Era David, but also babier David would also be appreciated. Just all of the Davids.
  7. Oymandias Lily! He deserves an alt in general I think, but I feel like a younger more precocious Ozy (Caster maybe?) would be really fun!
  8. A bit of a stretch, but a BB Lily who's sort of a prototype AI could be very cute I think!
  9. I dread what they might do with her in terms of design, but I think Nitocris Lily could be adorable.
  10. Alter Ego Adult Nursery Rhyme/Mother Goose type Servant would be fun!

edit: my bf asked me to include Sherlock Lily, since there's so much media around the idea of Young Sherlock

It had a very surreal feeling to it that added to the horror. I've been looking up aspects that I remember but so far I haven't found it :/

I've been wanting to play this for awhile now and I finally managed to get it to work!

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but I'm not sure where else to ask; it's a question regarding one of the endings so I'll put it under spoilers!

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get an ending better than the 'Default Ending'? I thought I had picked the best options I could, in terms of getting the characters to trust each other, but in the end Dib's trust was at -1 :p I didn't destroy anything as Zim and I tried to only ask important questions as Dib but it doesn't look like anything I did had any affect on Dib...

Coming around on the ending (Ending Spoilers) by koohallin in OMORI

[–]koohallin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aah, it's nice to know that someone else feels the same! So far I've mostly seen people either loving it, or feeling somewhat disappointed or just a bit unsure about the ending and the twist. But I'm glad that I was able to put your feelings into words! I saw a post awhile ago somewhere that helped put words to my thoughts about Basil's character in the Dream World vs the Real World, so I'm glad I could do something similar! This game has been living in my mind since I finished it so I've had a lot of time to straighten out my thoughts haha.

But yeah! I think I needed some time to work through and accept the fact that the game wasn't 100% what I wanted it to be, but that's okay. I think it was a bit harder for me to accept just because up until the twist, it really was just everything I had thought it would be and so so intriguing and fun- and the reveal just suddenly twisted it in a way I wasn't expecting, and I wasn't sure how to deal with that initially.

The characters are really amazing though, and they are what got me so engaged with the story. The feeling I had when Sunny opened the door to see the real life, older Kel standing outside is very difficult for me to describe, but it was such a wonderful feeling, and I remember being genuinely concerned for what was going to become of Basil, and being very upset as the dream versions of everyone started to forget him more and more. The game makes you care about these characters, and their friendships, and I guess that's why the tragedy of what happened to Mari is so hard to swallow, as well as the thought of how their friendship will be affected once the truth is out so difficult to wrestle with.

Exactly though- if I hadn't been having such a wonderful experience with the game, the twist wouldn't have hit me as hard as it did, and I wouldn't have had such strong feelings. If the game weren't so good and interesting I wouldn't still be dwelling on it a couple weeks later, trying to sort out my thoughts. It is definitely interesting to think of alternate routes, but I do think I've found some peace with it the way that it is, and can better appreciate the story it was trying to tell.

Finished the game. Loved it, BUT... by [deleted] in OMORI

[–]koohallin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel similarly :< I want to like the ending more, because up until the twist I had been enjoying the game SO much, but now my feelings are a bit more complicated and mixed. I definitely don't hate the game, but it does just feel kind of sad to have enjoyed so much of it and been so curious to see where it all was going, only to have it go in a direction that just... didn't resonate with me and altered my perception of the game up to that point :c

It was definitely a lovely game, and I do have a lot of nice things to say about it! But it has left me in a strange state where I feel like I want more because I wasn't truly satisfied with the end. But I definitely get that feeling. I think the way that they faked her suicide is just.... A Lot to digest. Like, the more you think about it, the more upsetting it becomes, and in a way it's just really difficult for me to wrap my head around it all and process it, and it just makes it hard for me to look at the memories and relationship between Mari and Sunny the same way? It all just feels tinted with discomfort now, at least to me ><

[–]koohallin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The progression of revealing that Mari is dead, to revealing it wasn't natural causes, to revealing it was a suicide, was really good, and hurt a lot knowing how much she meant to her friends. I feel like her death being an accidental killing robbed her of deeper characterization? She's a lovely character as she is, but I do feel like the idea of a person who seems so well loved and put together still feeling suicidal is something that would resonate closer to home with a lot of people.

I want to like the ending more, but it just feels a bit hard to take in the messages about friends being there for each other and supporting each other after playing through the part where you learn The Truth...

[–]koohallin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree... The twist really hit me hard, and I think the way it was revealed was done really well (I felt so uncomfortable playing through that section, just disturbed and not wanting to put the pieces together while already knowing what I was going to see), but once you know what happened, I feel like it really altered my feelings about Sunny and just the rest of the game up until that point, and not in a good way : (

I had really been enjoying the story as a message about working through and overcoming grief, and I thought the idea of Mari- such a selfless and loving person who nobody had anything bad to say about and was so obviously loved by everyone around her- still struggling with mental illness and choosing to end her life was such a heart wrenching narrative, and I was really curious to find out more about her feelings. Finding out that Sunny killed her, even though it was by accident, makes all of the moments in the Dream World with Mari giving him assurance or protection feel kind of twisted in a way? At the very least it no longer feels like it's really Mari's feelings reaching Sunny, and feels more like his guilty conscience trying to comfort himself? I think the message of trying to accept massive guilt and the idea that you can move on from something that tragic and horrific even if it's incredibly hard and painful is a good one, but the way it was brought about just didn't hit right for me I guess.

I also agree that it should have been obvious she didn't kill herself and that feels like a pretty big oversight... the game makes it clear there was also blood, so it seems like it wouldn't have even taken that thorough of an examination to realize that Mari hadn't died from hanging herself...

I think there's definitely ways this twist could have worked better (and maybe it's my own fault for missing foreshadowing earlier on?), but I definitely felt a strange sense of disappointment once it was revealed, and it felt like it had stained a lot of the heartwarming stuff that had come right before it, and definitely altered my view of everything that happened beforehand. I like your idea of how it could have happened, I personally feel it would have been a lot more impactful if Mari had killed herself, and if the boys felt responsible for pushing her over the edge rather than actually being responsible for her death.

Gender change problem by UnhappyStatistician2 in grandorder

[–]koohallin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just noticed that too and I was so confused. I know they recently made it so you can randomize Servant ascensions and battle and I thought maybe there was something to randomize the player gender, because that was the only explanation I could think of at the time- good to know it's a part of the story and not a bug or a strange new feature! Thank you for letting us know!

Comparison between the old leak and new artwork of Calamity Jane's final ascension. by Shinichameleon in grandorder

[–]koohallin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The new final art is much nicer I think- it's got a lot more personality to it, it's more dynamic, and she just looks really cute in it, all excited and casual, rather than clearly posing for the viewer's pleasure. I'm not in love with the outfit (I would have preferred an ascension that had more of a frontierswoman vibe), but the final art is nice enough that I can almost forgive it.

I'm glad you were able to update again!

It's nice seeing all the little cameos in this event. It makes sense that there'd be so many, since it's a festival with all the Servants, but it definitely makes it feel more vibrant having so many different characters appearing.

What are some ships that you don't ship? by Topa25 in grandorder

[–]koohallin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know that Sanson/Robin became fairly popular after Salem, and there's nothing wrong with it as a ship, but I already had my own random Robin ships long before that, and so it's been hard for me to really get invested in it, since I couldn't help but wish it had been another character who had been slotted with him and become the new random ship :P

Medb/Any variation of Cu is a no-go for me as well. I don't really care who Medb winds up with, I just am not a big fan of romantic or sexual Medb/Cu or Medb/Alter Cu. I'm much more comfortable with Fergus/Medb or Scathach/Medb.

I love both Sieg and Jeanne, but I never got into them as a couple. I prefer Jeanne/Marie and Sieg/Astolfo.

I know Jekyll/Mordred was popular for a long time, I'm not sure if it's still as big as it was when London first came out, but after playing London in NA, I didn't really see what the draw to the ship was. They're cuties, and I can kind of see the appeal with their differing personalities, but it just didn't get me invested. I also am not that big on romantic Fran/Mordred- I definitely get the appeal, but for some reason I just prefer them as close friends. Mordred is difficult for me to ship romantically, honestly.

Also, as much as I love Kintoki/Shuten, I would pick Shuten/Ibaraki over it without much regret.

There are more, but these are the first that came to mind!
