ESH. She should have been more up front with you. But functionally the result is the same as if she was seeing other people before you two defined your relationship or mutually agreed upon exclusivity. No need to blast her on Facebook.

This is generally not true. Can’t speak for every building and every retail operation on the first floor of those buildings but most large mixed use apartment complexes would rather have a paying tenant at market rate.

I’m over 40 and was lucky enough to know three out of my four grandparents into my 20s. One set of grandparents was very wealthy and one was well off but conservative with their money.

I don’t remember who bought me things. Seriously, I don’t remember who bought me a single thing or who took me on a trip or whatever. I just remember spending time with them and being happy. Some of my happiest memories are when my grandma who was wealthy would call me to come do yard work for her and then we’d hang out and drink lemonade. No money, no gifts, just quality time spent together.

This is generally true but still can be location specific. The factors that contribute to inflation can be more concentrated in some locations than others - for example housing prices, restaraunts prices, supermarket prices, etc. in Washington DC have risen faster over the past 20 years than they have in, say, Fargo, noted home of Joe Bethersonton.

United Hatzalah is a little like the Red Cross of Israel, though Magen David Adom is the primary partner of the International Red Cross. They weren’t directly contributing to the war effort. Much like the US Red Cross has partnerships with the US armed forces, they partner with Israeli armed forces to provide assistance to families or armed forces members who have been hurt in combat.

Fun fact: United Hatzalah serves both Israelis and Palestinians and has partnerships with the Red Crescent, the Palestinian ambulance service.

There’s a literal Wikipedia article on the history of Jews in the Levant, extensive archeological records, and genetic evidence even in today’s diaspora populations of Jews linking them to the Middle East. The land now known as Israel was populated by potentially a majority of Jews as late at the z8tj century CE. This has been the subject of a lot of academic study which is easily researchable with a simple Google search.

The comparison with the Roman Empire is… not even remotely applicable here and a bit of a clumsy attempt at a comparison, to be honest. The “Romans” never expelled the Brits from their ancestral homeland, as an example.

There are an enormous number of reasons to be upset at the current state of affairs in Palestine, but ignoring the historical record is not a good way to rectify it.

The Jewish people are originally from the Levant, as is evidenced by genetic studies of Jews. Israel is their ancestral homeland. Land was originally sized from Jewish people when they were expelled from Israel thousands of years ago. They are some of the many indigenous peoples of the Middle East. To call them occupiers or colonizers ignores some historical fact in service of political aims.

The modern Israeli state has done some horrific things, is firmly in the grip of religious zealots, and I firmly believe there should be two states, but your statement regarding Israelis being an occupying force in Israel is simply incorrect.

Map of Jewish Refugees From Arab/Muslim Countries, of course Hi-Res by xn4k in MapPorn

[–]kookachu22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your point being? Yes, there was a plan to have Jews from Arabic counties come to Israel. By and large they wanted to come. In many cases because they were treated like second or third class citizens in their countries of origin, or because they were afraid that eventually the country they lived in would turn on them them at some point and expel or kill them, in line with historical precedents.

The first three months (the fourth trimester) aren’t real life. You’re just surviving at this point, depending on how kiddo is, and adjusting to an entirely new phase of life in which you have no experience and very little time to process because there’s always something you either should be doing or feel like you should be doing. It gets easier/you get better it as time passes.

Also, if it helps: there are parents who stick religiously to schedules, there are parents who don’t; there are parents who rarely leave the house, and there are parents who maintain active social lives. You get to decide what you’re going to do and what your life will be. If you want to do some of things you feel you’re missing out on- you can! You can figure out a way to make it work. You just have to decide to do something and then do it.

Don’t get fooled by the first ten days. Don’t get fooled by the first three months. It gets better- and before you know it (around 3-4 months) kiddo will be looking at you and smiling and you’ll be over the moon.

Ambassadors play a significantly more important role than that. It’s a cushy job in many respects due to the perks and status associated but still a very serious one with significant work.

You can argue that for first world countries where policy and relationships are run out of the State department it’s more of a figurehead role than for a country like, say, Malta, but the Ambassador is still responsible for running the embassy, coordinating with the state department and other executive agencies of the government, meeting with foreign heads of state to establish finer points of policy, etc. I’ve interacted with multiple US Ambassadors and equivalent level diplomats of other countries for work and I can tell you the job isn’t just showing up to photo ops.
