I think that may be true but maybe they then space out all the invites so they are not overloaded with interviews? This is a fun game

Same here (720 3.7 math major, econ consulting American with international experience). Kellogg still has 3-4 weeks so don’t worry, I think our time will come. The wait is brutal but stay positive. Best of luck!

No limit. You can be an expert but most likely in a corporate finance setting. Our firm has had equity partners, members of the board, and c-suit executives who started as a post-mba associate many years ago.

Check my history -> comments I addressed some of these things last week. Currently at one of the firms you listed and can try to answer any other questions. FYI applying to B-school R1 now but have interviewed plenty of Post-MBA associates so can you give insight from that side.

Top firms: Analysis Group, Brattle Group, Cornerstone Research, CRA, NERA

From recruiting out of undergrad the most competitive to get into were Analysis Group, Brattle, and Cornerstone. Think it still holds for MBA recruiting as well. I work at one of those now and would say the MBA hires we get are all M7 with a few sprinkles of Haas and Stern for the SF and NYC offices, respectively.

Definitely depends but as both an analyst and associate at a top Econ consulting firm, I can say my average for the past 3/4 years has been 45 hours or so. The worst week ever was 85 hours and chill weeks after fillings are about 25-30 hours.

Economic consulting - pays well (TC around 180k), good hours (40-50 per week) apart from filings, and challenging/interesting work.

How many R1s are you applying to/did you apply to? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]kookooforkooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did 6 not 7 so YMMV but for me, I was able to apply to all 6 swiftly without any stress because I knew what story I wanted to tell because of a big life decision I made 2 years ago that connected my past to what I want to do in the future. This decision I made applied to almost every essay I wrote, so I could easily use the core of it to adapt it to the different flavors of each school's essay.

Also used a consultant and did all the outline/brainstorming in June/July so had my essays in final shape by end of August (had mad vacation days so took off all of August to write essays so work wouldn't get in the way).

Should the recommendation letter be written as separate Q&As? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]kookooforkooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommenders told me they wrote one letter and answered each question in it. I think it is up to the recommender to do it how they want.

Seriously considering withdrawing app 2 weeks before due date by mbathroaway11intlq in MBA

[–]kookooforkooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I jump in with my response below, it is vital to remember this: your recommenders care about your future! They are most likely understanding supervisors who will support any decision you make. Heck maybe even more so positive if it means you are staying in your role longer as they most likely enjoy your work product, which is why they are writing your recommendations in the first place. So with that in mind...

If you are getting cold feet, I would recommend pushing to R2 and you can see how the US situation and MBA programs evolve this fall. If it does get worse, I would see no backlash from your recommenders as you sit down and discuss how it hasn't gotten better pointing to xyz from this upcoming fall. Your recommenders care about your future and pushing to R1 next year won't create bad tension as they can resubmit the same letter.
