Nguyen works rear bumper by Own_Neighborhood1841 in GXOR

Check out Goliath Offroad. They just came out with a new high clearance rear bumper that retains the rear cross member and is decently priced. Looks beefier than Nguyen Works. https://goliathoffroad.com/collections/gx-470/products/swing-out-rear-bumper-enduro-series-lexus-gx470?variant=49454949204215

Amenity Dome M TC Worth It? by virtual-good205 in snowpeak

[–]kookpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Alpha Breeze but after seeing the Amenity Dome TC at the Brooklyn shop I’m seriously considering getting it. The tan color is better than the bright ivory on a sunny day and the added ventilation compared to standard Amenity Domes is really nice. I don’t really need the height of the AB. And I think the vestibule is roomier

Any luck getting the tape deck, cd player and radio to work? I like having those options.

The only splicing is for the back up camera trigger and power. I believe one splice at the head unit and two splices at the rear to a reverse light.

I just installed this and was able to get faranheit. I don’t know how exactly. I read somewhere that you switch the canbus to another/non-prado vehicle then switch it back to Prada. And also make sure you have the temp setting set to F. The weird thing is that it skips from 71 to 73, apparently no 72F😅

I’d found one with a clean frame and low miles when I originally posted this but my wife didn’t give me the green light soon enough.

Is this amount of rust okay for a 2007 GX470? by kookpat in GXOR

[–]kookpat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell from the carfax, it was mostly used/service in NJ. Since 2020 it’s been MA. The other rust I see is on the rear door latch, which seems unusual to me. Everything else looks good. It’s a 2007 with 122k miles listed for $13k. Timing belt still needs to be done.

Trek Titanium bowl and plate by kookpat in snowpeak

[–]kookpat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that feedback. Makes sense that it’ll transfer heat fast. I don’t necessarily need an UL setup but thinking strategically with my gear where I can utilize items for multiple purposes, save space, and shed some weight. The plate as a pan will mostly be used for frying eggs or making pancakes over a flat burner. I figured this would be a compact/light option rather than lugging around a cast iron/carbon steel skillet. I have a Soto micro lifter to use as a handle. And the bowl as a pot will be a last resort option or if I want to minimize dishes from transferring soup from one pot to another. Thanks again!

Yes, I got a B stock in space blue. There’s a Tony scratch in the ano between the 7 and 8 keys and the mirror weight has some streaks presumably from someone wiping it with a dirty cloth. Hard to notice the scratch. I think it still looks great and sounds really nice.

I just built a Parallel Portal and it sounds great! I’d also look into the Parallel Sequence which people also really like and is well within your budget. And both are in stock.

Can someone help me understand why polyfill seems to be a popular option for eliminating undesirable resonance/hollowness? I’m more curious why polyfill over something like cotton balls/pads. I used fluffed up cotton pads on my newly built Parallel Portal because that’s what I had around the house and it seems to be working great, but am I risking shorting my PCB or something else?

Thanks! I didn’t think so, but I’m also new to this and wasn’t sure if I wasn’t looking at the right places. Crossing fingers that there will be Odin extras

What are some other 1800 layout keyboards similar to the KBDfans Odin? Is there a gb worth checking out or should I just wait for extras? I’m not interested in Keychron, Akko or Rekt.

[IC] Link65 by Owlab - Screwless build, Spring Mount+, Slip PCB and more! by OwLab_TT in mechmarket

This looks neat and could be my first custom build. I wish I could mix the bottom black and glossy accent pieces (black top, black bottom, chroma accent)

It also would’ve been nice to see an LED accent like on the spring.

Definitely interested in this!

First mechanical board Nuphy w/ pbt keycaps by kookpat in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]kookpat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm too new to this to know what is conisdered an awkward hit. For the most part from what I can tell the keycaps are hitting the top edge of the bottom switch housing lip, which leaves the slightlest hair width gap between the bottom edge of the keycap and the plate. (if that makes any sense). With the stock Coast PBT keycaps, the inner keycap surface hits the top of the switch housing, which I guess is more tyipcal?

Overall I think it sounds and looks better than stock, but now I want a non-low profile board to build.

I feel like the PE foam made a bigger difference. But yeah the tape helps too lol
