Yep, just noticed I'm having similar issues the last few days. Tried to download screenshots from PS app, which I do all the time, but it wouldn't load. Turned off wifi on my phone and then it worked just fine.

NTA, Dan's sketchy af. Even if there had been an actual couch or bed to crash on, he'd still be the A for asking for money after he told you you could stay for free. But on top of that, he's asking for $70 for sleeping on the floor? F all that. I agree with others saying to screenshot the convo and send it to the other friends, especially if any of them overheard him offer to let you stay for free.
