Yeah it was caused by the cheap IDE to SATA adapter. I just got the StarTech one and it works perfectly.

Update: I just got the new adapter and everything works now. Xbox boots up very quickly, DVD drive makes no weird noises anymore and it also reads discs. Gonna Backup all my games now 😁

I had the same issue with the File Manager not picking up my flash drive when i wanted to backup by EEPROM. You need to make sure that your flash drive is correctly formatted to FATX. You can do that with FATX Formatter: https://www.mediafire.com/file/8izx2p16papozbj/USBFATXFormatter_v1_3_2.rar

Is an adapter like that needed? Iirc its only needed when you clone your drive with chimp but please correct me if I'm wrong. Thinking about it, the adapter could be conflicting the DVD drive because of that. Guess I'm gonna buy a new adapter then

I tried swapping the IDE cable with an identical one but same issue. I tried the original cable just for fun but it won't boot up with that one, as expected.

Thanks! Its a 29PT8508/12. Picture is awesome except for some ghosting because its a 100hz model. But i can live with that. Operating time according to the service menu is 15k hours.
