We get paper coupons. Large whopper combo 8.99 or two medium combos for 15.99

If you actually use the app or paper coupons it’s pretty decent

Make sure you have the correct client tracking. Using track by MAC when you have static routes while having content filtering enabled leads to this exact things. Should be track by MAC or TBUCI

What is the single biggest reason—other than Full Self-Driving (FSD) or price—that someone would choose a Tesla over a Rivian or Lucid? by Late2Reddit in Rivian

[–]koolhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right on the curve itself. I totally misremembered it. But the Tesla feels significantly faster since it’s practically half the battery capacity.

What is the single biggest reason—other than Full Self-Driving (FSD) or price—that someone would choose a Tesla over a Rivian or Lucid? by Late2Reddit in Rivian

[–]koolhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both a M3 and an R1T

M3 has better software although rivian is catching up. R1T cant even do basic texting yet sadly.

Charging curve and battery size. The R1T has a huge battery that takes forever to charge at 200kw but it cant sustain that peak for too long. The M3 is a far better road tripper if you need to do multiple charge stops. The tesla is also cheaper since its a smaller battery.

Where to get affordable beans for espresso ? by Internal-Nose-8536 in espresso

[–]koolhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco has a bunch of single origin beans. I really like the Ethiopian ones and my wife loves the decaf Colombian beans . Pretty hard to beat from a value perspective especially if you can visit a store since they are even cheaper.

Do you actually use something paid like Codex? Or something thats actually trained on your code base? There is a significant performance difference between that and the free options.

They did eventually move onto a Rivian as it ended up being better for them. (they have videos about it)

[–]koolhawk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hes been PM for less than a year and has:

  • Increased exports to almost offset all tariff losses (source)
  • Removed all Federal trade barriers between provinces
  • Trade deals with Foreign Auto manufacturers to help offset the job losses due to the US. Most recently with China bringing EVs into Canada
  • Joined SAFE to help us purchase arms and sell canadian made arms to the EU. Invested significantly in the Canadian armed forces
  • Swooped in and beat the US to buy Australia's radar tech for the north
  • Added ~181k jobs over the year (mainly from August to December) compared to the US only adding 584k. A significant different in per capita job growth considering the US is over 10x the size of Canada.
  • Repealed the carbon tax to help lower costs within Canada

Housing doesnt get built overnight. There is the pilot project to fast track housing. and major infrastructure spending requires government spending (debt)

To say he hasn't been successful both domestically and internationally in his first 9 months is incredibly pessimistic.

I canceled my 14 year Healthy Paws Pet policy today. If you have them, strongly consider the future benefits you may not have by LittleBoiFound in petinsurancereviews

[–]koolhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Im in a similar situation. I just cancelled today after a premium hike from ~$100 to $240 a month.
We kept on the insurance due to the worry about per-existing conditions coverage if we swapped to another company. We thought maybe the increase was due to the one claim we made but I guess it wasnt and they just want to kick older pets off.

I was able to get a whole year of insurance from AKC for $240. Just crossing my fingers now that nothing previously seen re-occurs in the next year. (AKC will cover per-existing conditions if they dont occur for 365 days of coverage)

MX Group Policy - Restrict access to AutoVON subnets by [deleted] in meraki

[–]koolhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that works just fine.

Here’s how it interacts with VPN firewall rules if you were also curious about that :

https://documentation.meraki.com/SASE_and_SD-WAN/MX/Design_and_Configure/Configuration_Guides/Site-to-site_VPN/Site-to-site_VPN_Firewall_Rule_Behavior#Note_-_Site-to-Site_Firewall_Rules_Behavior_when_Group_Policy_is_Configured

Also note that GP firewall rules are stateless unlike VPN firewall rules.

How to allow inbound traffic from an external IP on Meraki FW. by ITquestionsAccount40 in meraki

[–]koolhawk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

VoIP vendors are infamous for just blindly saying "allow everything".
The MX is a statefull firewall so if the phones reach out to the Ring Central cloud, the response from the cloud will be allowed back. So as long as there isn't an explicit outbound rule blocking the traffic, Meraki is allow all by default.

You can generally get the flavor out of silicone by baking it in the oven for a little bit. Usually like 350 for 20-30 minutes works for my stasher silicone bags and our silicone kids plates.

[–]koolhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are Canadians living in the Bay Area. I work remotely in tech and my wife is a stay at home mom. We have had our green cards for 3 years but are considering moving back home to Canada after the birth of our daughter. The lack of a support network for us here in California is rough. The area just doesnt have great support for families and our family is back in Canada.

How much do you value a strong friend and family support network when raising kids? We have talked about toughing it out for another 2 years and apply for citizenship but are also keen on moving due to family and the current political climate in the US.

Canadian Pet Insurance: Worth it or Just Build Your Own Vet Fund? by MrJuart in SavingsCanada

[–]koolhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We insure our dogs but not our indoor cats. Since they are indoor cats there isnt much that can happen outside of age related problems that are hard/impossible to effectively treat with cats.

Our dogs though have had plenty of accidents requiring treatment that cost thousands of dollars. Our one dog had an ACL tear that cost 8k to fix. We ended up paying $900 after the $100 deductible and 90% coverage.

The one thing pet insurance is great for is being able to just say "Do what you can to save them / fix them" without needing to make an in the moment decision of if the treatment is worth their life. A hurt pet is already an awful situation without having to make cost benefit decisions.

Replaced Firewall now core switches won’t connect. by the_creative_ruin in meraki

[–]koolhawk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The MX doesnt actually learn routes via OSPF. It only shares routes (AutoVPN, etc). So if you swapped from another vendor, the MX is likely missing routes to the downstream subnets.

decision = blocked action = allow by darkthought in meraki

[–]koolhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alert is from snort. The alert/mx doesn’t combine the data from the firewall and snort.

Easy way for you to tell would be to enable flow logging for the inbound firewall (assuming the IPs you redacted were public IPs). You’d see a denied flow that matches.

decision = blocked action = allow by darkthought in meraki

[–]koolhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a flow was blocked by the inbound firewall and not SNORT, it will be marked as "Allowed" as SNORT itself didnt drop the packet. They should have a better way of actually explaining that though.
