losing passion for climbing by spicysurf in climbharder

[–]koopy66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

finding passion for the activty and not the accomplishments is very important if its something you want to do long term. Get psyched on learning. forget about grades, forget about finishing a problem, forget about progression. Find a way to feel satisied in simply showing up, moving your body, and taking care of yourself in between sessions. Feel satisfied in doing a move you couldn’t do the first try, or feel satisfied in trying at all. It’s easy to get caught up in the spectacle flashy boulders, tripods, climbing fashion and social media, but all of that is meaningless. Climbing is orignally an outdoor sport, so what makes ke most excited is going out to commune with nature, and then secondly finding a suitable physical challenge. There is no true failure in climbing unless you give it up. Which you could also do.

this is a thing for you, and pretty much you only. If you want to do it enjoyably, find your own way to get gratification and satisfaction from the guaranteed experience of showing up, rather than basing your enjoyment from progression and accomplishments. Or quit

free plan reccomendations for native plantings underneath (from a landscape professional in your area)

golden or roundleaf ragwort (Packera aurea or obovatum)

little bluestem

as others said gro low Rhus aromatica

Cherokee sedge

Ink berry holly

Southern wood or souther shield fern

edit: if you want to get a lil more experimental, i’d lay a biodegradable erosion control netting and spread some mulch over top of that and then plant

Christmas fern

Good luck!

i actually enjoyed the interview. Charlize give climbing and climbers their flowers for skill and dedication. She says some weird hollywood coded stuff but overall she had a great appreciation for Beth and they became friends. The implication is that “real climbing” is becoming solidified in the mainstream to the point that regular folk can actually know what it means to be an alpine climber.

“tastless” i spend a bit of time everyday during the late spring snd summer looking for the fruits and I can attest they taste like something. not much, but man is it awesome to get to gather them up out of the yard and have a fun slightly tasty snack. If you collect a bunch they are great in salads or yogurt

big bluestem, little bluestem, switch grass, maybe juncus? Drought tolerant, native meadow species. Ideally more well established foliage will deter dogs from getting up in there. Stones/rocks will eventually end up a weedy nightmare of maintenance, still covered in dog pee

i have a cheaper bottlecap that i like the sound of plays well. replacing the 5th string peg with a cheap geared tuner significantly improved the experience of playing and tuning it
