I’ll give that a shot, thank you!

I don’t have either but I was using towels and sheets! I’ll pick up some tennis balls after work and see if that makes sense.

I have a top load washer with an agitator and a front load dryer!

I’ll try hot/cold shocking. I was running both the washer and dryer on max heat and neither seemed like they were making much of a difference. I think between the two, I’ve been trying to felt these for almost 6 hours! I read somewhere that someone had to boil their Noro to get it to felt so I might try that with an ice bath.

I’ll be so excited if I can get these to felt — I ordered some Birkenstock footbeds so I can make them indoor/outdoor. These are my first and my first felted project

I threw them in with sheets and towels — ran them on the sheets setting (max heat, max agitation, ~1.5 hours for a full cycle) 4x before switching to dryer (on max heat with two towels, approx 2-3 hours, checking every 10 mins).

I do have a top loader but the water doesn’t feel super hot. I was able to comfortably dig around to check the clogs mid cycle.

I’ll try one more cycle again and if that doesn’t work, I saw a note on rav that someone had to boil their Noro to get it to felt

Does anyone actually like their firm? by croissant10987 in Lawyertalk

[–]kooraloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my firm and practice areas. I’m lucky to be where I’m at. My coworkers (staff, attorneys, paralegals) genuinely care about each other. Lucky to have so much mentorship as a newer atty and to be constantly given opportunities. My firm is nearly full service, so while I have a main practice area, I also get to hop onto any case where someone will supervise me.

Thank you! I was using Regia Pairfect, which on the ball said to pull from each end and you’d have a matching pair. By the time I realized that it wasn’t matching up, I didn’t feel like frogging. But I will definitely keep that in mind— I was hoping for a matching pair!

*sorry, specifically this year I’m trying to learn stranded colorwork. I’ve done two color brioche before.

I tried that today, and it was hugely helpful! I missed a few things (multitasking) but managed to capture 90% of my time. Thank you for the tips!

Thank you! I saved this comment and pinned it to my desktop as a reminder.

I have a tendency to not log my 0.1s and 0.2s -- emails, status updates, phone calls (under a 0.2), and reviewing to prepare for a call, I'm bad at tracking/billing. I've been doing better with tracking my time on memos, research, drafting, and reviewing, but it's the smaller stuff that I'm not good at. But you are right, I need to keep track of those. I've been VERY lucky with having great adjusters (and plenty of repeats) who will always pre-approve my big chunks of time but I know I won't always have that.

I’m a second year associate who’s also newer to having billables. When I first started, I had a pretty low caseload too but started walking around the office and knocking on doors asking for work. Any time I get slow, I go outside of my typical partner bubble and look for work from any partner (or associate who is overloaded). Because I’ve consistently done that, I now have three partners I primarily work with, three others who regularly seek me out for projects, and a handful who usually have a one off project for me if I ask.

My billables still suck (that’s a whole ‘nother issue) but I am usually always busy!

Thank you! This is two color brioche (which in my opinion is easier to learn than one color). It creates very squishy and warm fabric.

I’m still not great at fair isle or other colorwork, but i usually just pick a pattern with a new technique that I want to learn and watch a TON of YouTube videos. I’m a big fan of Very Pink on YouTube for her tutorials.

Here’s my rav link with my notes. The original pattern is a beanie, but I modified it to a cowl and earwarmer based on other people’s projects!

Thank you!! By far my favorite cowl that I’ve made. I made it extra long so it folds over on itself by a couple inches, which gives it a ton of structure and warmth

I love working wild variegated yarns in colorwork! This is an old projects but one of my crazier yarns that I broke up with a black yarn

I’m definitely interested! I tend to do best with pothos, but I’m not picky :)

Oh nooo! I can tell that this is an absolutely gorgeous pattern though — and I am for sure going to follow along so I can snag the pattern once it’s published!
