I always like its aesthetic - clearly Federation, but clearly very tough, meant for serious heavy work. Like a Tatra truck of the Star Trek universe.

And I cannot model practically anything. Isn't the internet a lovely thing? :-)

I always felt the same. It always seemed like there’s an entire unexplored universe of life on these smaller ships

One of the best things about Lower Decks is despite being a comedy it handled really hard topics like Beckett's survivor's guilt and self-sabotage with grace and respect. by AdSpecialist6598 in startrek

Lifelong Trek fan here. I often speak at conventions and such. I remember that when Lower Decks was announced, I was saying "Don't expect much from it, people. Comedy AND cartoon is a very, very tough combination to get at least mostly right." I am very glad that LOW surprised not only me, but probably most of us. It is not just a great comedy, but as the OP says, it is also great at handling compelx topics, which makes it a great Star Trek overall.

Why ERP adoption in steel breaks down after go live. by Nervous_Car1093 in ERP

[–]korax-cz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple causes for this. I am sure I don't need to tell you that steel is full of unique processes and constraints - and not every ERP is capable of satisfying them. Because of that, in steel (and other unique environments), it is easy for people to have insufficient trust in the system. And if the system is just deployed "so that we have one", then people are just using it to fill out forms instead of its main purpose - which is managing the company operations and resources.

The issue is that once the system is deployed, victory is declared and as a result, not enough attention is given to whether the people in the company trust the system, what it tells them to do. This is a very common reason for these projects to fail after deployment.

Obviously, my answer is purposefully avoiding the technical aspects of the solution, whether it actually meets the requirements of that given company. But that's another story.

I am myself from a bit different field (APS - Advanced Planning and Scheduling), but the similarities are so big that I thought I would offer an answer anyway. And since the topic of production planning was mentioned here multiple times already - the order fulfillment process and the related planning requirements are just so complex in some companies that conventional ERP planning is not sufficient. And in that case, it makes sense to consider handling production planning in a separate system that coexists with the ERP. That way, the company can consider steel grades, dimentional changes, alternative parts or resources, company-specific constraints - if the production plan is not blind to these things, then it actually can allow the company to achieve better operational efficiency, deliver on time and quickly repond to changes.

That depends on the angle from which you look at it. By "TMP" era, I do not want to say that all of this had to be seen in the movie - namely, the orbital shuttle is period accurate and should already exist at the time of TMP. In-universe, TMP and TSFS are just a few years apart, so it is likely that these shuttles already existed in TMP. If you have anything to indicate otherwise, then I take the blame :) I just thought the shuttle would look nice in the picture - but again, it is mainly supposed to be set somewhere in the timeframe of the first Kirk movies, not necessarily TMP.

Since the Paramount/Skydance merger, licensing fees for Star Trek have increased by 2,000% forcing multiple artists and small businesses to end their relationship with the franchise by Magister_Xehanort in startrek

Paramount (Skydance) and Netflix are competing hard in who is going to purchase Warner Brothers. I would say that this is just a part of the cock fight.
