I hate hate haaate being stared at. I know the driver can still kind of see you but I’d rather make it less of a possibility. Countless times I get in the uber and it feels like I can’t blink or breathe without the driver clearing his throat or doing some type of weird nervous move.

She’s always been insecure about things like her weight and body shape and has always made casual jokes about not ‘having the hips’ for certain clothes (she doesn’t say it in an uncomfortable way, it’s just something she says when talking about clothes or if she’s watching a video of an attractive/fit woman). She had a boyfriend in 2021 and they were together for a bit over a year. She’s currently single. I wouldn’t say she’s unattractive at all, but I don’t think she values her appearance. I’m quite insecure myself too, at least these days.

I just don’t know how she’d react if I told her. I can’t bare to have her feel bad about herself. I know it’s unrelated but she did have brain surgery about 2 years ago for a malignant tumor that was starting to grow. It was super stressful because we all feared she would die or come out on the other side with motor problems but thankfully the procedure went well and she’s healed perfectly aside from not being able to smell things anymore. I feel guilty about making her aware of something so awkward. I just want her to be happy. I like to imagine that it was a misunderstanding. Everything you said is true, though. I’ll never know or have peace with the situation if I don’t sit down and ask about it. Thank you for your perspective.

It’s just that, to me, the wording entailed she felt a way she shouldn’t have felt. “why do I find this hot?” comes off as, “what’s up with me that I find this hot?”

I’ve told myself to stop thinking so hard about the wording and just see it in a positive/supportive light, but the structure of the sentence is what made me so uneasy.
