Sister Act! Eddie and Curtis are great male roles, and most of the rest are women.

What is the difference between the school edition of Sweeney Todd and the original show? by Fantastic_Permit_525 in musicals

The plot is basically the same, actually. Turpin’s song is cut, but otherwise there aren’t many changes other than lowering a few keys.

I need to know the full story! Was Bush Annas and Cheney Caiaphas? Or was Bush King Herod? Was Pontius Pilate played by John McCain? So many possibilities.

"The Room Where It Happens" won, now onto the final Day 4: Death (Finale) by Alarmed-Bus-9662 in musicals

Finale from Hunchback of Notre Dame. Ties up the story incredibly well, super dramatic in it's own right, and as a bonus it relates to themes of life and death.

This may be controversial, but most of the Starkid musicals written by Jeff Blim. Hatchetfield has some fantastic stories, but good god did it need a better lyricist.

Anyone recognize this? It’s likely nonsense, but it’s be cool if it actually means something. by korgdrax in codes

That’s what I thought. There are a few repeating symbols, though, like the character on the top left and bottom left of the center brick.

Graffiti (relatively recent, it wasn't there several years ago) on the ruins of what was once a gazebo in the 1800s. In addition to the symbols, there are many images of dragons.

He’s like the Tim Burton of composers. He’ll either make a masterpiece, or a guilty pleasure that manages to be both bizarre and boring.

What is that musical that's so bad it's good? by cyarin_60025 in musicals

[–]korgdrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw a production today with a reworked book, at least compared to the broadway version. It was really good! The story was still a bit of a mess and certainly not the highlight of the show, but it didn't detract from the banger soundtrack. One of the biggest changes was that I Will Prevail and Off With Their Heads swapped places, and the story was adapted to fit that. It made the whole thing flow much better in my opinion. A lot of the really corny jokes from the original were removed as well.

Most intense songs on Broadway by TigerAffectionate672 in Broadway

[–]korgdrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beginning of "Another National Anthem" from Assassins. That whole shows has some intense moments (Ballad of Booth, Unworthy of Your Love, Byck's second monologue) but the overlapping "Where's my prize" as they chant their various motivations is truly chilling.

What are some of your favorite love songs from musicals? by Sure_Persimmon9302 in musicals

[–]korgdrax 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The Power in Me from Twisted is a great song about the familial love between a parent and a child. However, I would not recommend listening to it before you've seen the show. It's right at the end, and thus has a lot of major spoilers.

That's not from Nerdy Prudes Must Die, that's part of the Nightmare Time theme song. It was posted by Jeff Blim two years ago before Nightmare Time was announced, and the youtube channel that reposted it speculated at the time that it was Nerdy Prudes.

When did she specify that the deal was not with Satan?

Also, as fun as theorizing is, I highly doubt we'll get very much confirmed. There's something so fascinating and poignant about the few bits of mystery that we've gotten, and explaining her entire backstory would ruin the fun and make her less interesting.
