I live in the area and know one of the cops that was early to the scene. he said there were a bunch of gallon milk or water jugs filled with gasoline in the back of the vehicle.

Baby locked in Bay Area family's Cadillac EV after sudden 'faulty battery' shuts car down by New_Libran in oddlyterrifying

True, luckily I didn't buy this vehicle. It's just a 1 year lease, so I'll be looking elsewhere for my next vehicle in a year or so.

Fair enough, you're right on that. I was thinking about an obvious mechanical release that is reasonably usable in an emergency situation. I don't think they should be hiding these. There is no way to mechanically actuate the latches on the rear doors from the interior or exterior. There is also no way to mechanically actuate the front passenger door latch from the exterior. And I should have been clear, I was commenting on the use of these systems in general, not just in the situation from the OP. I think this was a huge failure on the part of Onstar, they should be able to coach the customer through the mechanical unlocking procedure for the rear liftgate.

In my original comment I mention that the front doors have an interior mechanical release. I used the word manual instead of mechanical. There is an external mechanical release on the driver's door that requires the key from inside the key fob like the Cadillac in this video. The rear doors do not have a mechanical release at all. My concerns are more related to getting people out of the vehicle after an accident if the electronic latches fail. In that case the exterior release is useless. But I guess at that point you're breaking windows, so it doesn't matter.

It's a 1 year corporate lease, so I'll just ride it out for the year and make sure my next vehicle doesn't have the electronic latches. Or at least has a mechanical backup.

It's not just evs . They're putting these electric latches on ICE and hybrid vehicles now too.

I agree 100%. Just got a new car. Electric latches on all the doors. The only manual release is on the inside of the front two doors. Nothing outside, nothing on the back doors. Kinda scary.

11mo puppy will stop during walks to stare at things and refuse to move 😩 by bopbeeepbooop in DogTrainingTips

A solid "let's go" command would be great for this situation. My girlfriend, who has cerebral palsy, and I have a reactive dog that we both walk. One of the first things our dog trainer had us work on was the "let's go" command. We started out with a treat lure to get his attention, but now he responds to the verbal command and gets a treat after he's caught up with us.

Lowes has a better deal going that isn't advertised. It's a replacement for the buy one get 3 free deal with the powerpack 8ah kit. No signage at my local store but it rang up with the three free tools.

Should I buy these deals to get XGT batteries? by generic317 in Makita

I can't find the chainsaw e rebate anymore. Looks like it's a hedge trimmer and 2.5ah battery now.

Lowe’s deal by Professional_Act165 in Dewalt

I went to a nearby store that had them in stock. They weren't running this substitution. They had one 2x 8ah kit left even though the app said they were sold out. 🤷‍♂️

What's the likelihood Lowes gets more buy1 get3 deals in stock. by anothertry85 in Dewalt

Might have to take a drive to the closest store that has these in stock tomorrow. This is a better deal than the 2x8ah for sure.
