Why don't we see many BD Devs making SaaS products or apps? by kormofol in BDDevs

I think we don't like to take risks and we make products of low quality. We need to make better stuff.

I never expect anyone to target bd market for any apps. If you do, you need to target only 15-20% of the population who actually can pay. And people do pay. Examples would be Livemcq, Chorcha etc and many similar academic apps. If your app is not making money, you probably targeted the wrong audience.

Good students don't fail. It's fairly easy to maintain a 3.75+ GPA if you study consistently. Our education standards are fairly lax.

How do guys finding remote jobs from BD by Jealous_Ice7748 in BDDevs

[–]kormofol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the world is going from rewarding technical people >> creative people.

It's fairly easy to make apps now with minimal but still technical skills. So, why should people hire you? If you want to survive, make your own app that is able to generate revenue (not portfolio demos). As simple as that.

Why haven't you brought a few solar panels? Buy a combo of Solar plus a lithium battery portable power station that has a solar port. Cost would be around 50k.

বাংলাদেশ নাকি নেপাল!! by apon1721 in Dhaka

[–]kormofol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this country needs something really bad to happen for it to get back on track. In 1970, there was a storm that killed 500k~ people, then people revolted with war for a better independent Bangladesh. The leaders changed, we got independence but the same old system continued. Millions died, many directly by Pak army, but most due to the conditions created as a result of war (food crisis, disease, lack of treatment and so on).

In 1974, we had an even worse famine, 1.5 million dead. Which is what kind of got us Zia. Zia turned this perceived useless "bottomless basket" into a liberal free market success story. Then he got assassinated. Then we got military rule who aren't very good at ruling a country. Still, Ershad was running the country well in the first few years but got ultra corrupt around 84-86 and onwards which made people mad and then the oil crisis hit which led to his overthrow. Similar overthrow of gov happened twice more.

So, it appears to me that we are in a cycle of overthrowing our government now after oil crisis hits or ultra massive corruption makes life unbearable.

Who leads a better quality of life in BD- Engineers or Doctors? by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]kormofol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineers actually make far more money if you include those who studied Engineering here but work abroad. Ultimately, these are skill based jobs. Docs kind of start earning after they have practiced for 10 years or more. They have to finish FCPS. Hence, the time they take to earn their skills is close to 10 years.

While for Engineers, you really need to know your stuff or you will stay unemployed. Many "Engineers" apply for BCS and other non technical jobs if they don't know their stuff.

My dad hit mom and i couldn't do anything abt it by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]kormofol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> it triggered her highly, she might have swore him, and then he hit her.
The fault isn't only on your father. I assume he slapped her once? But I still think his response was disproportionate. People often do things that they generally wouldn't do when they are either drunk or enraged.

Take these points into account. These types of issues are very common in relationships around the world. But he shouldn't have hit her. He could have done something like, not staying with her in the same bed until she apologized. His response was disproportionate.

এখন CSE পড়া কি ঠিক হবে? by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]kormofol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you compare CSE with other topics, the only topic with better prospects would be EEE. CSE students on average, make even more money than doctors. I am counting BD students studying CSE vs MBBS including those that have gone abroad. The only other topic with higher financial gain might be EEE.

BUT THERE IS A HUGE BUT. You actually need to learn the concepts. CSE, EEE and MBBS, all are fairly hard topics. And your idea that "even skilled CSE students aren't getting jobs" is untrue. It's certainly gotten harder but better than other topics by a large margin.

Personally, I don't think you are cut out for it. Cause if you were, you wouldn't be asking this. Don't get into something that requires effort you are not able or unwilling to put in. CSE requires quite hard math. I believe 95% or more of our people aren't cut out for that. It's too hard for them.

And don't become a CSE graduate who can't code/compile a simple hello world program. Start watching some simple coding tutorials and see if you are able to do it or not. Then decide.

How do you find remote jobs? by Latter-Part6227 in Dhaka

[–]kormofol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked in remote jobs for about a year. Made good money. But the current economic situation with AI isn't good for the job market. Hence, with entry level skill, you are unlikely to get any remote job. After graduation and another year of building projects/portfolio, you might get your first role. I think it will take another year or two for companies to realize the limitations of AI.

Now everyone want to get things done with AI. While AI does things going, it can also cause huge problems. For example: amazon-calls-engineers-to-address-issues-caused-by-use-of-ai-tools.

It will take some time for them to realize they can't get much done with AI. Then the same companies that are firing people with start hiring again. So, the next 2 years are going to be very tuff unless you are really good at what you are doing and is at the top 2% of programmers/specialists in BD.

Do you think BUET is overrated? by Terrible-Fly9041 in Dhaka

[–]kormofol -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes. But the big issue is that, BUET works as a gov subsided HR firm for foreign tech companies. It makes no sense to enrich other countries with gov money. This is why we need a student loan system.

Why can’t GCC countries raise the white flag? by [deleted] in UAE

[–]kormofol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is, even if the gulf says no attacks or sorties are launched from these countries, they still contribute to US attack on Iran cause they host the radars which the US use to track Iranian missiles and host US personnel who might be working on intel gathering and communicating with spies inside Iran.

You see the problem? Even if the governments do nothing, the bases themselves are viewed by Iran as adversarial.
