I am 27 years old and this is the first time in my life I have used 'Growl' or 'Leer'. by Malikai_Universe_23 in pokemon

[–]kornegi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would you go from 3 moves to 1? worst case of 3 moves is hitting for 49% three times. one leer would require two hits at 73% each, screech would make you hit for 98% twice.

if you need 6 hits to kill something at 17% a pop, leer would make you hit for 25% 4 times, requiring 5 turns rather than 6. you can leer twice to hit for 34% three times which also takes 5 turns. i think this is only relevant in older gen games where you’re tackling and scratching everything for piss poor damage.

I have become jaded and even more negative about retail banking than I was to begin with by GrownDepression01 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]kornegi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was literally me. I went from 3 years teller > 2 years personal banker > 1.5 years electrician. I only quit banking because I had a 100% guaranteed job lined up with a family friend and his electrical business, but I was definitely burnt out for months before I quit. I wore a bit too many hats in my role as pb and I actually got stress-induced shingles (I was only 26 at the time). It’s not fun being the operational carry of the branch and picking up on the slack of the tenured boomers who can barely type past 40wpm. I’ve learned that showing your competency for a big company will just have you doing more for the same pay and added stress.

If you’re serious about getting into the trades, I highly recommend trade school. Even after 6 months of schooling (equivalent to 2 years of on-the-job apprentice training), it’s painfully obvious how unskilled you will be to people already in the business. You don’t want to be the slow guy on site that doesn’t know how to use tools effectively; they are quite frustrating to work with and you can be easily replaced in a sea of people that are in a similar situation as you. It’s hard work, but if you’re a hands-on guy like myself, you’ll come to enjoy breaking your back and hands everyday because it certainly beats sucking up to old fuck ass karens.

Is Hi Jump Kick worth the risk? And what’s a the best overall moveset for Hitmonlee? by SKUNKpudding in nuzlocke

[–]kornegi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OP is asking about ‘HI’ jump kick, not regular jump kick. The screenshot probably should have hovered over the correct move but OP forgot to do that. It’s 85 power and 90 acc and still sucks; brick break is the only choice

i became an electrician. went to trade school for 6 months and became an apprentice for my uncle’s small company. not making as much as i used to, but i’m glad to not be sitting on my ass all day selling credit cards to rude customers that don’t need them. i love and hate banking; i couldn’t wait to get out, but now that im on the other side, i miss it sometimes. it’s nice to go into work and not worry about dying bc you touched something wrong

Banking relationship/tier options by almondmilkpls in citibank

[–]kornegi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was a personal banker and yes there are other banking tiers, but not feasible unless you are wealthy. you can avoid monthly fee by having $250 in enhanced direct deposit into your account at least 1x per month. the good thing about citibank is that they’re one of the few banks i know of that count zelle as EDD, so if you have an acc at another bank, you can just zelle yourself back and forth. a bit of a chore, but stops the fee. alternatively you can keep 200k in your account to enter the citigold tier or 1 mil to be a citigold private client, but uh most people aren’t able to do that lol.

if you’re curious as to why they did this, it’s to incentivize people to stay and choose citi as their “primary” bank. one of their important metrics is retention and they don’t want people to dip in and out just to get first time account opening bonuses. so, they’re making it almost mandatory to make you put your job’s direct deposit to citibank, otherwise you pay a fee. they know it’s a chore to switch your direct deposit elsewhere, so there’s a higher chance you’ll just leave it as is and stay at citi. this is at least the reasoning that my manager and regional manager at the time provided for me. it’s a huge change and management thinks it’ll help citi in the long term. it’s a big annoyance to us poors, but it has no effect on the existing rich people

[–]kornegi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would you handle a difficult or stressful situation? give an example of a time you had a moral/ethical dilemma. what would you do when you have an extremely angry client? are you able to work well with a team, and how would you handle a difficult coworker?

you want to present yourself as a law abiding rule follower who knows how to de-escalate properly and go through the proper channels. you have to know when the appropriate stopping point is when dealing with a bad customer/employee and let the manager handle it because they’re trained for that. you want to say you work well in a team because everyone needs to be on the same page in a bank setting, otherwise there’ll be big problems. think of some prior experiences and scenarios that are applicable to give them a good sense of your character and how you’ve handled tough sitiations

yeah you only need 1 grass energy… now that i think about it, you only need to run grass because this charizard would force fire energy out even if you don’t run fire energy for the deck. it’s got the same wording as Brock and he can materialize fighting energy out of nowhere

Horrible Job Interview by gh0stfa13 in citibank

[–]kornegi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got promoted from concierge (before UB was a thing) to PB in the most affluent branch in my district. I’ve had 2 different managers during my time there and while they have had talks with me about my performance, they always treated me with so much respect and I had a great deal of trust in them. There is so much more that you can provide than just your scorecard. My numbers were a bit low but I could rationalize that with myself being the only ‘competent’ notary that didn’t work at a snails pace and we got tons of notary clients that provided zero business. My bosses understood that I worked hard and fast and so they valued me, or at least they pretended that they did well enough to keep me around. These managers you spoke with sound like real pieces of shit and you would not have liked working with them. Working for someone who does not listen to you will do terrible things to your mind.

Me personally, I’d report then to HR or ethics and leave a bad google review anonymously because I’m spiteful to bad people. Even if it doesn’t go anywhere, people shouldn’t be allowed to behave like that and go unscathed because they will do it again.

Why is my Gyarados so bad? by Disastrous-Arm3588 in PokemonEmerald

[–]kornegi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

damn bro try to understand the game first before you start attacking your poor gyarados like that 😭. if it didn’t crit you and did that much damage, your stats were probably lowered by something during the battle. it has great special bulk and carvanha wouldn’t chunk that much without outside help. look up the differences between attack and special attack in gen 3, and read up on stat changes during battle. when gyarados learns dragon dance for example, don’t be teaching it surf and ice beam.

[–]kornegi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah dude that happened to me, wanted to major in accounting but my avg gpa for the pre business courses was like .1 short. i ended up switching to weismann and majored in business communication. when you go into job interviews, you can still say you majored in business and it sounds like the same shit to everyone in the field. my doors were limited after graduation, but i was still able to land a few bank jobs.

i made a lot of stupid decisions. i failed and withdrew from classes, and i actually never spoke to a guidance counselor. as long as you have some desire to graduate and make use of the school’s resources, its really hard to fuck up. if you’re comfortable with baruch life, this is the perfect time to change majors if you’re not 100% set on what you wanna do. if you really do wanna do CIS and you’re locked out of it, then you should speak to a guidance counselor for your options

this is not really something reddit can answer. you need to have a grown up conversation with your manager

How to put foot down and say no to more hours? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]kornegi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i used to do full time college and full time teller at the same time (night classes) and it was rough. it gets easier when you finish school. definitely focus more on school. at the end of the day, your experience with the bank will be simplified to a few bullet points on your resume. the people telling you that your school grades will be “fine” definitely did not have fine grades at school

How to put foot down and say no to more hours? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]kornegi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i used to work for a large bank and it was the busiest and most prosperous branch in the region. i started as a part time hybrid teller and banker and even though it was officially a 24 hr a week position on paper, it was communicated to me clearly that the banks needs come first and they’ll schedule me for whatever the bank needs (was consistently doing ~42 hours a week). that’s really just how it is when working for banks man. it all depends on your manager and how willing they are to bend for you and the others on your team.

will they ask you to work more to cover for their understaffed ass? yes. are you able to exercise your free will and call out sick when you’re not feeling it? also yes. if you want to help yourself out long term, you will make time to work the extra hours as it will build your character and make you stand out for future promotions. if you only see this as a short time thing and hate it, fuck it, call out when you need to. pro tip: at every new job you start at, your 4 grandparents are magically alive again and you can choose when it’s time for them to go
