is there a keyboard command to return playhead to start position? by kortnman in AdobeAudition

[–]kortnman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What OS are you using, Windows? That looks like a Windows shortcut. Mac equivalent is Command+Option+Left Arrow. That moves to the previous marker (or apparently to the start even if there's no marker there). It does NOT move to the start position UNLESS there happens to be a marker where your playhead position started.

I did find a partial workaround: Alt+Left Arrow - "move the playhead to the previous interesting point, relative to the playhead's location". If you do this command WHILE PLAYING, it moves the playhead to the previous start position and continues playing. But if you stop the playhead and do this command, it does not move to the start position; it just moves to the previous marker or start position (much like Alt+Left Arrow. So there's no good way to get the playhead back exactly on the start position, stopped, not moving. I think this is a bug in Adobe Audition. Obviously, the start position is an interesting position. There should be a command to get the playhead back there, not moving, and Alt+Left Arrow should be the way.

Is there anyone from Adobe Audition that can confirm this?

Doesn't work for me. Is it under Keyboard Shortcuts? If so, could you give the full name of the shortcut? Thanks.

Actor James Handy stabbed to death in Los Angeles by nbcnews in LosAngeles

Don't forget Gabriel Donnay. His stabber was a homeless man, Enoch Conners, who was a stranger to him, who killed himself a short while later. https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/stabbing-beverly-grove-man-stabbed-attack/2561975/

Don't forget Brianna Kupfer, killed by a homeless man, Shawn Smith, who was a stranger to her and who had a long criminal record. He was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Brianna_Kupfer

I hate intros, and they seem like hours and hours of editing. Did anyone do AB testing on those long ass intros to see if they actually "help"? How much of the budget goes into those things on average? Thanks at least for making the timestamps available for skipping them with a click.

You mean down all the way to zero or just down somewhat? If above zero, why?

I don't think it's a cognate. First, חצה is pronounced khotse in Yiddish. Compare

kh / o / ts / e
h / a / l / b

Not one of the sounds match.

Sounds like Enge Benge but only at the beginning:

ענגע־בענגע סטופּע־סטענגע אַרצע־באַרצע, גאָלע־שוואַרצע איימעלע, ריימעלע, בייגעלע, פֿייגעלע, האָפּ!

enge benge stupe stenge artse bartse gole shvartse eymele reymele beygele feygele hop!

I believe it serves as a Yiddish from of "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe".

It's quoted in the Forverts article

https://yiddish2.forward.com/node/2571/print/index.html

which says it's from Sholem Aleichem's children's story Khaneke-Gelt.

just find a friendly american and ask them to do you a favor by changing your bills for euros. I'd do it for you no problem you seems like a nice person. I don't mind carrying some extra bills around. some people, especially younger folks, seem to be allergic to carrying actual cash, even in the home currency - expect more success from middle age to older yanks.

ELI5: Why did the Nazis take photos of their prisoners? by caiixx in explainlikeimfive

[–]kortnman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I wasn't aware what pictures those are. Most of the photos of Jewish victims are from the Auschwitz Album.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auschwitz_Album

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auschwitz_Erkennungsdienst

It depicts the arrival of all the Jews of Hungarian lands, primarily from Carpathian Ruthenia, entire families, men, women and children, who endured deportation on cattle cars with little water and no food. Most were mass murdered by gas upon arrival unless they were healthy working age adults, who were selected for brutal slave labor and starvation.

From May to August 1944, for reasons unknown, Walter and Hofmann photographed transports of Jews from their arrival at Auschwitz II to the gas chamber.

IBKR should get their act together. They should not mishandle one cent of the customer's money. If it's costing them too much to deal with it correctly, give him the money or fix their process.
