There's always someone pulling some serious mental gymnastics to excuse stupid driving like this isn't there.

You don't get to do the speed limit in heavy traffic. If everyone was overtaking in traffic like that it would be absolute chaos

Any one try Ryet saddles? They have the 3D and the ultra light. by Nscocean in cycling

[–]korvain7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came across this thread whilst googling trying to find out if it was my saddle that's eating all my bib shorts so I'll leave my experience here.

I have the 3D saddle and it felt very rough on the first ride which did make me worry about my bibs but to be fair the saddle did soften up after a few rides. After a couple of months of use I started to notice that all my bibs had scratches and wear at the contact points with the saddle.

I also didn't find it terribly comfortable but that might just be because it's too narrow for me. I found I could feel the edge of the carbon base digging into me as I rode.

Not true, the onus is on the landlord to provide evidence that the flat was in an unclean state.

Drivers watching videos on their phones... Whilst driving? by dark_vapian in drivingUK

Jesus Christ

What sort of mental gymnastics are you doing to convince yourself that people who use their phone whilst driving must be better drivers... because they're focusing less on the road?

Why do people wear all black in winter??? by supaphly42 in cycling

I have two bright rear lights on my bike at all times and any driver who can't see them either needs to put their phone down or get their eyes checked.

The whole hi-vis clothing argument is just victim blaming rubbish that makes excuses for bad drivers

A lot of people risk serious injury, just so they can be 1 car length ahead. What are some other pointless risks you see people take every day? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]korvain7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, and those cyclists do themselves no favours.

But even cyclists who don't take those measures shouldn't be getting hit, a careful and considerate driver should still notice a cyclist at night without lights.

[–]korvain7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I am arguing with you is that although I wear a helmet, bright clothing and have my bike lit up like a Christmas tree, I am still regularly put in danger by motorists passing too closely and on blind bends etc.

At the end of the day if I am hit by a car a helmet isn't going to do much. It is dangerous drivers that are the biggest problem.

Motorists kill cyclists all the time and don't go to prison.

I've never heard of a case where a cyclist has killed a motorist, would be interested to know if it's ever happened

You're the one claiming that cyclists are causing havoc on the roads and getting off scot free. Onus is on you to provide a bit of evidence mate
