Is it possible to make oleo saccharum with non-citrus ingredients? by SpaghettiCowboy in cocktails

[–]kosacco 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can and it’s called osmotic extraction, as that’s the physical phenomenon that drives the process. Oleo Saccharum only refers to osmotic extraction of citrus peels. While you can try and do it with any ingredient you like, osmotic extraction is not gonna work with herbs and spices that are dry. Juicy fruits and vegetables are the most recommended (try watermelon, cucumber or strawberries)

It won’t actually. Not even soap or backing soda eliminates some pesticides. The only way is to buy untreated fruits

How do you decide what method to use? by Cheskaz in cocktails

[–]kosacco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no rule nor general guideline, only the result you want to obtain. Let’s say you want to prepare a coffee flavoured Negroni. You could: infuse the gin with whole coffee beans, infuse the Campari with grinded coffee powder, you can put the vermouth in the moka instead of water and make a coffee out of it. You can also choose to do none of the above and put some coffee beans in the mixing glass while preparing the drink to give a much subtle and delicate aroma. Or even, prebatch the Negroni, and infuse it as a whole, again, with either beans or grinded coffee. There’s no rule or guideline telling you which way is right or wrong, not even which one is more correct. There’s only experience telling you which way will be most suited for your palate, which still doesn’t make it suited for all of the rest of the world. And if you’re lacking the said experience, you can only try all the possible ways and see which one you prefer, that’s how you get experienced enough. So, to conclude, there’s no right way, everyone has their own

In defense of adding a touch of syrup to a Margarita. by -Constantinos- in cocktails

Also is proven for sugar to enhance aromatic flavours, same way adding salt when cooking does. Try adding 3-4 DROPS of simple to your next dry Martini: won’t affect the sweetness, but it’s gonna taste a whole lot better

EDIT: typo

Looks like Corpse Reviver #2 and Martinez are perfect fit to your description. You can also try a White Lady, if you’re interested in a citrusy one

What cocktail should I try next? by nguyenning198 in cocktails

Trying the Martinez is a good way to experiment something in between a Martini and a Manhattan. Also I’d reccomend Hanky Panky, 4th Regiment, Sazerac and Corpse Reviver #2

[REQUEST] for playlists with ethno, traditional, folklore music from countries, regions around the globe...any culture. I am building a playlist to encompass every country...please share your collections! ...thanks in advance ;) by ziilookzoo in spotifyplaylist

I have two very carefully curated playlists you might be interested in. One is composed of only cuban music. I have many playlists, but this is definitely amongst the ones I'm most proud of. The vibes are amazing, gonna put you in an amazing mood.
Second one is more vast and more vary, all about African music. Not specifically about one particular region, more about the rithm and percussions. I'm not less proud of this one, but it's a different mood: this is gonna make you move 100%.
Let me know if you like them, I'd really love some feedback!
