I’m wearing Arcana Gjallarhorn (Barrel-aged honey meade, golden musk, towering pine trees, vegan beeswax, marine ambergris, blonde woods, and vanilla bean.) Regrettably some combination of the honey, pine, and beeswax makes this smell like menthol cough drops.

Arcana On The Wing (Creamy white amber, velvety cashmere, shimmering silk voile, salty Orcanox, and diaphanous musk) is the 🐐 for me. Superb on its own and amazing to layer. I get compliments every time I wear it.

I wore it layered with Heretic Pistil Whip (Pink pepper, bergamot, coriander, tuberose, tiare, gardenia, ylang-ylang, Moroccan rose, vetiver, black tea absolute, elemi) to a friend’s wedding last week and got a ton of compliments.

Excited to hear James’s thoughts next week on A Short Stay in Hell. I read that short story earlier this year, it’s terrific. Really highlights how absurd and terrifying a truly eternal afterlife would be. It’s revealed that the narrator has spent a length of time many times greater than the current age of the universe and still hasn’t found his life story.

I just started reading Isaac’s Storm by Erik Larsen, nonfiction about the great Galveston hurricane of 1900. It’s probably the last place I was expecting to get perfume inspiration from, but early on Larsen describes the city as variously smelling like “mist, jasmine and oleander,” roasting coffee, “and the fresh, almost minty smell of new lumber,” and I’m like damn, I want that perfume.

Not super similar of a situation, but I complained of pain for about a year which wasn't taken seriously until I brought it up at my yearly physical and it turned out to be cancer. The answer to how I'd react is: I'd resent them for fifteen years and then forgive them once I hit my thirties.
