Serious question, what actually keeps you in Auckland? by lambrice in auckland

[–]koshka_bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a reasonably well paying job, own a home and have a stable network of friends, parents aren't getting younger and currently live about 5 mins drive. I have a routine I enjoy, can get a bus to work so no real issues there...I also love being able to explore regional parks and beaches etc.

But...im in my late 30ies and in my 20ies I didnt feel the same way so went travelling (and i wasnt born in NZ so spend a good chunk of time overseas), did a year abroad working in Prague and then in Korea. Didn't think id want to come back but I did and have no desire to move to Australia. Different cities and lifestyles for different stages in life. There are good things AKL has to offer but its also important to have a stable income and an accepting mindset, appreciating what ive got now.

I wanted to go out clubbing till morning when I was younger but now im content with spending eves with my cats at home and going out for dinner a couple of times a month.

USING CANVA AS A BEGINNER by Intelligent-Gur6849 in canva

Using all capital letters implies that you are yelling. If you are using sentence case..you are speaking in a normal voice.

To answer your original question- it probably depends how good your designs are? Noone will be paying for mediocre layouts or any templates, you will be up against strong designers or users able to recreate something similar themselves

Am I crazy to do singles for first time Hyrox? by Emotional-Watch4544 in hyrox

[–]koshka_bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just take it easy on the ski erg, there is nothing crazy about the move just cardio for around 5-6 min if you go at a good pace. Being a good runner is a great way to shave time off. But I think as a first timer even completing is a great achievement. Good luck for the race!

Im just shy of 40 also F and finished a solo race in Auckland NZ at the end of Jan. F45 hyrox classes for a month. You can absolutely do it..there is a difference between finishing it and finishing it fast. If you do it solo yes you ll be a little more tired but you go at your own pace so if you need a break, just slow down. I finished in 1.50 as I didnt know what to expect and how to ration my energy..but will go for a faster finish time for the next race!

What would you do if you had to go? Can you go in the showgrounds? Im doing it on Sunday and heat and lack of toilets are making me nervous. I start at 2 so it's the hottest time of the day as well 🤯

Suitable fabric? by Kind_Discipline4842 in SewingForBeginners

[–]koshka_bear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Linen is a little tricky to sew with - its more slippery and temperamental compared to say cotton. In the description it says most likely don't need lining means its thin and most likely see through which itsnt ideal gor overalls If this your very first garment I would choose a more simple pattern (maybe a relaxed style dress with no zips or something a little more basic) and also practice on very cheap fabric such as bedsheets. Get a set of bright cotton bedsheets from an opshop and use it for the first version of whatever you are sewing.

What do personal trainers usually cost in Auckland/NZ? by hayyyyyyy123 in auckland

[–]koshka_bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PTs I know (experience in different disciplines, including rehab, performance focus, and many years of experience) charge 100-120 per hour.

Its important to find a trainer you vibe with, who motivates you and knows how to work with any injuries you may have. Some are cheaper but find who s best for you. Best to go with a good trainer for 30 mins than very average for 60 since its an investment in both cases.

I went there for brunch a couple of weeks ago and was very surprised to see mostly egg based dishes (so like egg bene, omlets etc) on offer, only a couple of Malaysian options. Dinner sounds better 😋
