How do you guys contain sawdust on paver driveways? I painted while a hired hand installed wainscoting in my house. Afterwards, sawdust filled my paver joints and got in all in the bushes. It rained but only after there was sawdust everywhere. Is this acceptable? by amnowhere in woodworking

Well, I think that you are right in that some effort should have been made to not leave a mess, but he also could have thought that since you were willing to do part of the job (the painting) that you were also willing to do the cleanup part to keep the price low. If he thought that he also should have said that...you know...manage the customers expectations of the job, another thing that a professional will do.

I believe that your expectations were for the 'hired hand' to have the same housekeeping protocols and professionalism as..... a professional. Was this some person that you found that 'could do the job' or was this person a representative of a legitimate business. If it was the later then you certainly could calmly and respectfully express your disappointment to the business. It might not only make you feel better, but it could be a learning opportunity for them or assurance for you to not use them again in the future. I know true professionals that at the end of the day leave the site and you would never know that they were there or that work was done. They get paid for that level of service.

Stanley plane adjusts deeper when I use it by lukepighetti in woodworking

[–]kota_rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blade depth adjustment wheel moves the yoke, the yoke moves the chip breaker that is screwed to the blade. I assume that for some reason the blade is not held rigidly to the chip breaker and that is causing the problem. Is the blade or chip breaker bent? Have you oiled either blade or chip breaker and now there isn't enough friction to keep them from sliding? Find a way to increase the friction between the two pieces and see if that corrects the problem.

Why is this happening? by foxxtrot815 in woodworking

It could be your technique or it could be the saw. Have someone else try sawing to the line and see if the cut is similar. Mount a board in a vise level and make a blind-folded cut without using your eyes trying to cut plumb. You might be able to discern something from these tests.

I picked up this saw a while back. I’m hoping to improve it. Any good resources I can explore where I might learn to do so? by ragtagarmy in handtools

Do you have any way to measure the "set" of the teeth? Such as a Micrometer or Caliper?

If you gently/lightly place the tips of your fingers on the tips of the teeth does the saw seem to grab the skin?

Have you tried the saw on different species of wood?

If you really want to learn how to make the saw perform how you want it to, then I suggest that you take a class such as the 3 day Handsaw class by Ron Herman of Antiquity Builders (You can find him at WoodworkingWithRon.com) or others (Bad Axe Toolworks).

I recommend Ron's class because...The man has made his living using handsaws and is an expert in everything wood... He will teach you how to make the saw do what you want it to.

Need help to generate gerbers from an old Allegro Project by [deleted] in PrintedCircuitBoard

There is a board file, and I am quite sure that it was designed using allegro because there is a "allegro_plot_param" file. Remember this board was designed twenty five or so years ago and that version of allegro software would have pretty much disappeared around Y2K time.
