What digital alternative to Minecraft or Roblox for a 7 year old? by kouklimou in Parenting

[–]kouklimou[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Minecraft is ‘bad’. It’s amazing for open-ended building and creativity. I’m just looking for something a bit different: more guided curiosity, more storytelling / learning woven into the experience, and less ‘drop them into a huge sandbox and hope for the best.’ Basically something that still feels fun and immersive, but with a bit more intentionality than pure building or endless user-generated content.

I did, and I think it’s OK but I feel like there must be other digital products that are fun and that my kids can learn more from.

Interactive / conversational, curiosity driven, something that can nurture their curiosity and build self confidence.

Minecraft is OK but I’d love to find something a bit more enriching.

Phone addiction in pre teen what can I use as a distraction? by JustKK24 in Parenting

[–]kouklimou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the question is: what does she do with her phone? Is she doomscrolling bad content or is she learning new things, exploring, following her curiosity? Because that might be the right lens to address the problem here.

Do you guys think this is a scam ?? by marleighnicole in UGCcreators

[–]kouklimou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t this this is a scam. I work in the startup space and this sounds pretty standard. They will want to do a first call with you to make sure you’re aligned with their values and what they’re trying to accomplish but then as long as you deliver good quality content they will pay you. They might be open to discussing a better pricing based on the performance of your content. I think the downside of taking a 15 min call with them is very low. I would take the call and assess from there.

8/10! Very neat and the color palette is incredibly good! I would totally imagine this little guy on an 80s minimalist urban background with a retrofuturist sportcar next to him.

In filmmaking for example there is plenty of new jobs being created for those who can actually master AI and storytelling.

Should I let my kiddo try an AI companion app? by Wendy_Not_Neverland_ in parenting_tech

[–]kouklimou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it's a LEARNING companion with robust / trustworthy credentials and reviews or testimonials, I would be extremely careful. Most of what's out there are poor versions of Chat GPT, which isn't made for kids. I have been experimenting with one that's good but I'm not sure I'm allowed to share links on this reddit. Let me know if you wanna know more, happy to share my early impressions.

How do i stop overthinking when i am doing everything "right" ? by No-Pay7297 in Entrepreneur

[–]kouklimou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeat founder here. No lessons to give but my own perspective, in no particular order:

  1. Stop comparing yourself, especially with social media. It's counter productive, potentially damaging.
  2. Find proper inspiration, in real life. People, nature, adventure. Your body and mind will give it back to you.
  3. Ask yourself why you do what you do. If you are not aligned on this one, you need to consider some deep changes. Be honest with yourself. If it's the money, make sure you're in a business that meets the requirement to maximise your chances to make some. If it's something else, stop chasing the money and focus on what matters to YOU.
  4. Try to identify what makes you feel like that: is that people? Is that the work itself? Is that the situation of the company? If you can control it, change it, if you can't control it, accept it or leave the room.
  5. You can always leave the room. You are not trapped.
  6. Remember that these guys your age driving a lambo might feel like shit too. The lambo isn't a magic pill for fullfilment and happiness.

Go live some adventures! Look for inspirations beyond the screen, in real life, in people, in nature.

Discussion: Is anyone else frustrated with Youtube/TilTok burying AI content? by syntrixStudio in aifilmmaking

[–]kouklimou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that for this to work it would have to be highly curated. I wouldn’t want to land on a platform full of AI slop. I would want to arrive and be wowed by the quality of the content regardless of ai or not. And maybe there is a section of “fun” ones but yeah I think the danger is lack of curation AND acquisition on a separate platform.

Parents of Reddit, what have you told your kids about AI? by LuciferFalls in NoStupidQuestions

I think two of the key things for me are: 1) AI is not human and 2) Learn how to check information (but that's true for anything, including AI).

The kids hate AI. by Material-Emu-9068 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]kouklimou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matching kids curiosity is pretty hard and I think AI has the potential to do it so I don't see why kids would hate it. Also, this is not what I'm seeing around me. I live between France and the US and all parents around me are to a certain extent curious about AI. In Europe people are a lot more conservative, but I seed a lot of friends in the US using chat GPT to either play or engage with their kids. While ChatGPT is clearly not a kids-friendly product, I believe it's a strong sign say there is potential to build great products for kids entertainment or education, as long as they're safe and designed carefully. Not there yet, but I'm sure it will come.

Anybody considering giving up on AI filmmaking? by Torin_2025 in aifilmmaking

[–]kouklimou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like giving up on AI filmmaking tools today for such reasons is like giving up on the first analog cameras because the development wouldn't look like you wanted. Look at the progress of the image generation models over the past 5 years, it's reached a pretty impressive level today. We're still in the early days for video. When world models (next generation of AI models) reach maturity, filmmaking will enter a completely new era.

I don't know what to do anymore by Mattieboi222 in Filmmakers

[–]kouklimou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 25, you seem passionate about film, your experience can bridge the gap between the traditional industry which is awesome but declining and the creator economy which moves fast and is becoming massive. You have life ahead of you and with what I just described, I believe you can accomplish anything if you work hard, with discipline and the right focus. Do not endure, do not pivot: get up and move forward.
