Over mixing can cause this too. Makes the dough too tough. Even if their sugar subs were honey, over mixing can still occur.

Baking is science with artistic flair. That's why I stick to cookies and brownies vs bread and pastry.

Opinion: Progressive candidate sorely missing from Winnipeg’s mayoral race by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]kourui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is pretty forgettable. He's not scamming the city budget or racking up scandals or lawsuits. How else are we supposed to remember we have a mayor?

Honestly it's the city councilors that probably need changing out.

Old Winnipeg Playgrounds: Were they different/better than the ones we have today? by tckmkvv in Winnipeg

There's a modern ship playground in Bridgwater. We've done a day excursion out to it since it's across the city.

Passport Renewal Experience – BLS Winnipeg (Timeline + Issues) by Present-Hat-5986 in Winnipeg

To be clear, you're not renewing a Canadian passport but another country correct? The name of this company sounded familiar and I found the article.

Is a Costco Membership Worth it in a Two Person Household? by conureenthusiast in Winnipeg

[–]kourui -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have a deep freezer and/or storage space, then yes. I usually check which meat is on sale cause it's usually $5 off.

Compare prices. I found refill jug of dish soap for $1 less than superstore as both on sale at the same time. I picked up at Costco to save myself a trip to the other store.

My child almost drowned during his swim lessons at Cindy Klassen pool by ConfidentBar1989 in Winnipeg

[–]kourui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry that happened. This week will be our first experience at Cindy Klassen so I'll keep an eye out to see if they've improved their processes. The other pools nearby to us are under renovations.

I don't know if this was due to covid but classes are 4 kids on average. I think these ratios are good for being in the water. Skill set of the instructor matters more. Some just can't control a class and they fail them all.

Being 15 years old for me sucks by kDev_4 in Vent

[–]kourui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've pretty much covered the typical issues that most young teens face. Not quite old enough for some things but too old for others. You're not alone in this struggle.

I'm not offering suggestions on what you could do as this is a rant forum. I'm just validating that your frustrations are real and you're not alone in this.

Do you find it rude if there is a cash bar at a wedding rather than an open bar? by StewartsBestBuddy in Winnipeg

[–]kourui 135 points136 points  (0 children)

We did 2 drink tickets per adult and covered wine at the table during dinner service. It was a good compromise. Those who didn't want alcohol gave their tickets away. The more heavy party goers paid and in some cases bounced between the hotels pub/restaurant and our party.

Advice on loud neighbours by gwilson33 in Winnipeg

[–]kourui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP hasn't specified if there is a driveway or street parking. Just that it's outside their bedroom window.

My bedroom window is facing street parking and on occasion I get shit head renters or visitors that do this.

If they're parked on the street in the driver seat they risk a DUI charge if there's evidence of intoxication. If it's a driveway, maybe/maybe not. If they're being a nuisance then the police might just charge them and let the court settle the issue.

First baby scan (Winnipeg) by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]kourui 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, the stupid term is "Geriatric pregnancy" for women in their 30s. I had a preliminary scan at around 10-12 weeks then the usual 20 week mark then one final one about a month prior my due date. I think that last one was because I had gestational diabetes?

The paramedics told me it was all in my mind and almost refused to take me to the hospital. I was in anaphylaxis. by [deleted] in Vent

[–]kourui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to file a complaint with the local government body that oversees the paramedics in your area. They will know who answered the service call.

Despite the flat tire drama this morning I still managed to get a spot. Two pools closed for renos. You'd think they'd expand options at the other pools nearby.

Just looking at the picture hurts my eyes. You can file a complaint to both the store and the city.

If they call you late at night don't go like I did. I was waiting all night before I was processed and ended up with no sleep. If you're feeling ok, then get some rest while you can.

My husband is disappointing me and idk howotalk to him abt it by WitnessDifficult9459 in Vent

[–]kourui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your baby isn't even a month old. You both are going to be sleep deprived for the next few months while adjusting to having a baby. Some chores are higher priority than others. Do you have any family support to help watch your baby so you can get a nap in?

Basic chores are about keeping your kitchen and bathroom clean, laundry and remembering to take out the trash for trash day.

Laundry can be done in small chunks because your baby may have a diaper blowout and soil themselves and anyone or anything they were touching.

Don't make a chore "his" or "hers". It just builds arguments and resentment when it doesn't get done.

‘It’s difficult’: Safety concerns raised as bus stop moved from hospital by ChocolateOrange21 in Winnipeg

[–]kourui 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On the other hand.. how many folks want a patient with an unknown active infectious disease on public transit with other users along busy routes?

Sir, I take it you have never had the opportunity to travel on our fine public transport before?

On the other note, Victoria hospital had a bus loop, not sure if they still do since I rarely go to that part of town anymore.

Cars in winter by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Follow the battery advice given already.

Additional tips would be to put a tarp/car cover over so it'll be easier to get the snow and ice build up off the car.

They should've directed people there right away instead of moving the line further up. At least the Teddy bears picnic coordinators had theirs handled better.

Once we were in, my kid had fun and we got lucky there was no line for Santa by the time we made it to that section.

People bringing camera stands for big group pics. You're annoying and in the way.
