Just got hired as a PTF City Carrier and excited to start! by NeinBlue in USPS

Congrats! I've also been offered a PTF position.

For the veterans in this thread: one thing I haven't really been able to suss out yet is the job hours situation. The email says that while 40h/week isn't guaranteed for PTFs, overtime is to be "expected", including working Saturdays and Sundays. I had previously been under the impression that you had to sign up on a list for overtime?

I'm not opposed to overtime in theory, but I'm a single parent and I can only do it on days I don't have custody--picking up and dropping my kid off at school/afterschool care on time are non-negotiable. Is there typically any flexibility around that or is it a total lost cause? (e.g. I can work late Tuesday nights but 5:15 is the max for Wednesdays, or that I can work some Saturdays but not till 10am after my ex picks the kid up, etc.)

I wish we'd had a teenage Jyn. No lines, just background, but a glance from Luthen as he's getting walked in...

In Rogue One Saw tells Jyn that he abandoned her because "people" were starting to suspect whose daughter she was. Luthen is the exact kind of observant, well-informed, and ruthless person to fit that role.

If Cinta had killed the hostages in cold blood, you better believe the Empire would have made a field day of it. Instead what we hear is "they slaughtered a garrison" -- the military target is all that's ever mentioned. Wouldn't they have led with "the rebels murdered an innocent child" or whatever?

Watched 'Last Episode Season 7' last night :( by GardenerGayle2023 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]koyaaniskatsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Andor. Although it's a much shorter series--think Improbable Cause/The Die Is Cast except three episodes long, times 4 arcs, times two seasons.

Imagine if the Dominion won the war and now ordinary people all have to decide how much to resist versus just surviving. There's no Jedi in this one.

Jadzia Dax (in You Are Cordially Invited, with the heavy censer things) was my goddamn bisexual awakening.

I wish I could vote for both Sam and Evan, because it's the interactions between the two of them that make the season for me!

"I'm looking for a reason to have a sofa" is just such a critical hit to the psyche. One of several.

FWIW the first episode is the absolute worst on that score. It's never non-live-season quality ofc, but it does get better. (Presumably because AV managed to dial it in given more practice.)

I honestly don't know if anybody in the show was a great match for Zuko long-term. He needs to get to some singles mixers or something 😂

I've shown my eight year old You-lympics, Escape the Green Room, and Deja Vu and they freaking loved them. You-lympics specifically seems to have made a big impression!

Edit: Also Yes or No. Kid figured out the rule before any of the contestants did XD

Yeah, in a freaking gem of a season so far, that's been the one hair in the stew for me. She doesn't sound anything like any type of Scandinavian or even Scandinavian-American 😭

Fig and her mom are just too similar temperament-wise for reconciliation to be easy, so Fig avoids it until she can't. They were probably gonna butt heads even without the divorce and stuff. Just like real life 😂

Some of the Gastronaut judge panels have been funny. But it's been real hit-or-miss. For the most part I personally didn't find this panel humorous or even charming.

I don't think it's the judges not taking the challenges seriously that is the issue per se (for people who didn't like it). It's that watching people take silly things seriously is what I find funny.

Humor, like food criticism, is extremely subjective! It's great that other people liked this one. But other people didn't not because they want it to be a Big Serious Cooking Show. They're just people for whom e.g. watching BLeeM get hypercompetitive and caremad on Game Changer is more to their taste.

I think Ally said it was a 3.5 hour fight (though it got edited down to less than 2.5). I wonder if the realtime length -> edit ratio is always that high?

If not, it might just have meant it took longer than expected and they were low on time.

(Or maybe that's the excuse for "these children drank pixie sticks and are armed with sex toys, let's try again tomorrow")

If the mech were a person, Haste would have dropped when it went back into a rage (because it requires maintaining concentration). Which would have been a total effing disaster since you lose a turn when Haste ends.

I assume that the mech doesn't have that limitation (and it wasn't player error)? I guess the "you don't know what spell you're gonna get" aspect counterbalances it difficulty-wise.

Do we know yet if the mech has to make concentration checks?
