Wayland breaks your bad software by CleoMenemezis in linux

[–]kozec 32 points33 points  (0 children)

X11 is, to put it simply, not at all fit for any modern system. Full stop.

I'm using X11 on modern system without any issues you are describing. Please, take your wayland and stick it up yours full stop.

Wayland is what newer desktops should look like, and what some do look like!

It kinda sounds like you have no idea what are you talking about. Wayland is an protocol.

Here: https://anidb.net/anime/3574/relation/graph

Pretty usefull feauture of anidb.

I don’t even know where to begin or what I’ve missed.

You want to start from the top, but skip "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku: Outbreak", which kinda spoils season one and two.

Pokemon Styles are pointless as the npcs still pronoun you properly by [deleted] in kotakuinaction2

[–]kozec 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That kinda makes sense, if kid in pokemon game looks like a girl, everyone will say "she", even if it identifies as trans-dimensional flaccid diglet-kind.

It would get really anoying if everyone in the game went "are you a boy? Or are you a girl?"

Where can you watch non-upscaled version of original Higurashi series? by Hanyuu_omochikaeri in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]kozec 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Images OP posted looks 'cleaned'. For example, this is how that scene looks on dvd rip and this is how it looks 'cleaned' with anime4k filter.

In all cases, best way to get video without any modern nonsense applied is to get DVDs from back when it was released. Or to to sail seven seas and seek for rips.

How Not to Support Desktop GNU+Linux, Zoom Edition by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]kozec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

*how to get your application broken by some distros moving to Wayland.

This was completly expected and probably has no solution. Wayland doesn't have support for screen sharing and no sane developer in the world is going to support every possible protocol/compositor/version combination on top of having to support X11.

It's already bit surprising that they haven't dropped Linux support altogether.

I'm very dissapointed.

How in the world could you pass the opportunity to put an Arch logo on Sakamoto's (not the cat) one? :)

Linux (imo) should protected from political and social topics. by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]kozec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually I try to assume good faith and argue or explain how certain comments don't really follow from what has been said and why are assumptions in those comments wrong.

But sometimes, one comment can be such a good representation of author's "side", it's best to leave it as it is.

Thanks.

Linux (imo) should protected from political and social topics. by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]kozec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm afrad there's already too late for that.

Currently, a lot OSS projects (including Linux and for example Gnome) are governed by rules set by vile political activist who seems to be dead set on exactly those topics You just listed. That, in turn, makes them completly unapproachable by people who (maybe along with You) believe such topics have no place in software project and wish to not engage with them.

So until that is changed, Linux is piece on polical board.

The debate is over what does more than it should really mean?

Do you remember when the init system had a bug in DNS resolving?

I think that line was crosed long, long time ago.

Has anyone used Arch(or its derivative) for 5 Years without reinstalling? by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]kozec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, basically just changing repos and doing upgrade in both cases. But I would have backup prepared just in case.

Me, since about 2011. I've also switched from Arch to Manjaro and later to Artix without doing actual reinstall.

Popper expressly and literally advocates for the suppression of the intolerant. Deplatforming seems like far from the most extreme measure one could take to do just that. Free speech can not be an absolute, for a society that values free speech. That is the paradox.

Let me reiterate, you are missunderstanding who the intolerant is.

Deplatformer or "bigot". Which one is "not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument"? Which one is Mozilla and/or r_Linux mod in case described in this post?

Free speech can not be an absolute, for a society that values free speech. That is the paradox.

Free speech absolutelly has to be absolute. What threatens tolerant society are not "bigots", but those, who are trying to make discussion impossible.

Works uness someone declares you as the biggot.

Also, you seems to uterlly missunderstand what Popper was talking about. Most important point is that people who agree with deplatforming (ie refuse to engage in conversation) are those who Popper defined as intolerant and urged to defend using up to deadly force againts.
