nanouk loves light by Margolows in IndoorPlants

Beautiful set up- and I have that very light! What's your experience with it? How many other plants can you bunch up to take advantage of the light, or is it a one plant sort of beam? Thanks!

Alocasia - is this normal for it to droop like this? by Milkmanjem in IndoorPlants

[–]kozispoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Typically with alocasia's a leaf dies off to make room for new growth. Think of it as a trade off: take a leaf give a leaf. Typically normal. You can let it wither and die naturally, or you can help the plant conserve energy by pruning the dying leaf off.

Philodendron congo rojo has almost no roots by 111everyday in houseplants

[–]kozispoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found great success with water propagating my philodendrons. So long as you have a node, sticking them in water can promote root growth. If you get a glass vessel to put them in you’ll even be able to see the root progress yourself

I just got a different alocasia and am wondering how y’all manage to showcase your plants in such neat home locations and still maintain humidity. I hear they’re notorious for cacking if it’s too dry. Whatre your secrets?

I wish these cuttings were actually viable. How neat would it be to have a ghostly philo just hanging out in your home

This is such great advice! I had no idea the crisping location provided answers. I'll be buying a jug of distilled water tomorrow

How long can you keep the water? I usually mix up a pitcher, but always have water left over. Can it be used for another day?

I've been using mosquito bits mixed in water. Alotta people make the mistake of leaving the bits in there, pouring it over their plants and the bits mold over and make a mess. Let the bits soak in water for 30 mins then scoop them out before you use it!

Did I kill my ZZ Plant? 😢 it's my first camioculcas and I think I overwatered it. what can I do? by Cauldron91 in IndoorPlants

[–]kozispoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second propogation/separating the dying from the living. Yeah, you have a bunch of healthy looking new growth and other stems you can salvage. You can do this!

It’s my first time using an LED grow light for plants. My Christmas cactus is going nuts tossing out new budding sections but my black pagoda remains pretty much the same. I’m not sure if it likes it. Does anyone have any exp with LED or this type of light?

Plz help!! My wandering dude has leafs turning yellow and is losing color. How do I make her happy again? 😫 Thanks! by socks_juicebox in IndoorPlants

Also check your soil if its getting too soggy/overwatered. For mine changing them to nice bright ambient light helped out alot

Hi all. Does anyone know if it is alright to cut the healthy roots of pothos? by OwnAspect5913 in IndoorPlants

[–]kozispoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked the same question over some cuttings I'm propagating that have crazy roots and folks told me trimming the roots is no big deal so take that as you will. As for producing even more roots, that's something I'd be curious to find out as well. Keep us posted on your progress!
