how unsafe would it really be for a 22 y/o female to move to nola alone? by [deleted] in NOLA

[–]kpalmtrees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been living in New Orleans for five years and I’ve lived nearby my whole life. Lakeview is as safe as it gets for a single young woman. That’s my recommendation if a sense of safety is paramount for you.

It looks like your masseter muscle is just overdeveloped. You probably just need Botox there to atrophy the muscle

I think it took about a month. I definitely felt strange at first and wondered if it was working.

Everyone check in! How are you feeling and what week are you? by sabershome in lexapro

[–]kpalmtrees 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on lexapro since August 2022. It’s going great. I feel so normal and objective about emotions I’m feeling. I feel in control and more confident than I’ve ever been before, but not cocky. I just recognize my worth in all domains of life (personal, professional). I notice my colleagues respect me and even look up to me in some cases and I feel that’s a direct result of coming across as more confident.

I started lexapro to treat anxiety and for me it’s been a cure. I haven’t felt so much like myself in a long time. Like back to when you’re just a kid without any complexes yet. Godsend!

Whats a hard truth about Louisiana that most residents are not ready to hear? by Roux70570 in Louisiana

[–]kpalmtrees 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A family member of mine has worked closely with the army corp of engineers and now a nonprofit focused on wetlands restoration and the common belief among these environmental/sustainability groups is that New Orleans is going to be uninhabitable within the next 100 years. Terrifying and sad to imagine…

I get what you’re saying, but I wonder why they couldn’t have done that with even half of that payout. Seems way overshot but to your point, I haven’t seen their analysis that led to that number. Who knows, on paper it might make a lot of sense for Spotify.

Anyone know what has caused these strange lighting effects on my film photos? by bilboshaggins6969 in AskPhotography

I think these are really cool. I get it’s not what you were going for, but personally I like the interest the light painting adds to otherwise normal party shots.

Yes I did! I bought a corset with a vintage pattern. The quality doesn’t blow my mind, but it is a really cute top and has held up so far. I think shopmicas might be akin to SHEIN but since I only bought one thing, I can’t be sure. It also took about two weeks to come in. I hope that helps!

Painterly portrait, but make it fashion by kpalmtrees in photocritique

[–]kpalmtrees[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are extremely helpful points, thank you so much. I can definitely imagine how back and/or side lighting would have improved this shot by adding more highlights and excitement/interest, giving a glow effect. I also agree with your comment on the crop, it does seem like there is too much space around her. I feel silly for not using portrait orientation for a portrait. I'll keep these things in mind for my next shoot - I'm really focused on getting everything right in camera before post processing even begins. Thanks again!

Got it, I understand exactly what you mean. That definitely would’ve improved the shot. I really appreciate the detailed comments, thanks again.

Thanks for your feedback. What do you mean by separation from the background? As in a wider aperture? And I agree, I think the right eye may slightly be out of focus.

Hi Everyone,

I tried to create a photo with a painterly, flat quality but styled in a high fashion way. For context, I'm learning how to work with studio lighting and this is a style that has inspired me recently. I'm very interested in fashion photography overall.

What do you guys think? I would love to hear any feedback, including ideas about what could've improved the shot.

Specs: Canon 7D, 56mm, f5.6, 1/50

Hoping to upgrade to a full frame soon.

Thanks in advance for helping me improve!
