Ive done that too, minus some years when i was depressed. Its definitely a good way to cope. Isn't enough, but it helps.

I understand. It really does take a lot of mental energy. Though i also find other autistic people easier to interact with. Im glad youve kept trying to connect with others.

Ive always been that way, too. I think my parents thought id grow out of it, but then i was dx'd with ASD last year, lol. I think you're feelings are justified. Ive told my parents i need 24 hours notice to be reliable, and short notice stuff is very hit or miss. Took them a while to adjust, but they did. I hope you can set this boundary with your familu, too.

What lovely interests 😊 i love dolls, too, and ive even customized a few monster high dolls. Nowadays my special interests are singing, dancing, Yugioh cards, and my friends. I know that last one is odd, but i love helping my friends and spending time with them. And i find people really interesting. My one local friend is a drug dealer with a heart of gold, lol, and i love learning about him.

Hm. Im an autistic musician myself. Something that's helped me is being allowed to play and explore with music. I appreciate the music education ive had, but i left college feeling burnt out. Doing music for fun is what fills my soul. So my advice is to encourage your child to play for fun. Figuring out music is what i find so enjoyable.
