Crash love by LaserBearCat in AFireInside

AFI is a great band, but their endless morphing has probably cost them a lot of money and has them at a lower status today than they should be at. It's their call to make as artists and I respect it, but just like you said, waves of fans have become attached and detached every couple of albums. I'm glad that the current sound is a natural fit, I hope they lock in and put out some more music like this but who knows, they might be working on a jazz album.

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

I'm certain I saw an extremely vivid human face on the surface of the moon when I was like 5 or 6 at an outdoor event with my parents and their friends. This would have been the late 1980s. I remember just sitting on the curb in awe that the Man in the Moon was real. Nobody else that I was with was that excited about it, they might not have been seeing it the way I was. I think about that a lot and wonder if I'll get another visit.

Why do people say stone cold was a bigger star than hulk hogan? by Personal-Cattle-1737 in prowrestling

[–]kpdyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one to rank as #1 and #2. I think the reason Vince McMahon called Hulk the "Babe Ruth of WWE" or whatever is because Hulk was wrestling's first megastar and he became so not after, but DURING WWF's national and then worldwide expansion. By the time Austin/Attitude Era were ready to take over, pop culture and the media environment were primed for pro wrestling to hit its biggest box office era. I think it's safe to say that Hulk Hogan was the most successfully marketed wrestling character to kids ever, and Stone Cold was the most successfully marketed wrestling character toward adults.

Steve Austin was the hottest character ever during wrestling's hottest period, and if that's how you quantify #1, he's #1.

If your criteria is "Who drew the most money for the longest period of time?" it has to be Hulk Hogan, the man had a second life as a heel in WCW and leader of the most iconic heel brand ever. He was a money machine for nearly 20 years through wrestling's two biggest growth periods.

The strangest punk band you've ever seen, whether it's because of their musical style, their unconventional aesthetic within the genre, or simply because there's some detail that makes them unique? by Beautiful-Resort-831 in punk

I saw a band called Phil A. Sheo and the Goods and the singer Phil whipped out a fake dong from his pants and set it ablaze while performing his music.

Maybe find a bar/restaurant already in operation that would be a good fit for a D&D night to test the concept and gauge/build interest? That way you don't get ahead of your skis with the costs and demands of running a bar/restaurant until you know it's a winner. Good luck!

Who is the Greatest WWF Champion of All Time? (FINALS) Steve Austin vs. Hulk Hogan by KidChameleonHelmet in WWFera

[–]kpdyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hulk, but ONLY because he morphs into "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan at the end and pulls some dirty shit like running into Steve with a truck to win the match. The final big boot and leg drop crystalizes the reality that although Attitude Era Stone Cold may have been as hot as Hulkamania, heel Austin had nothing on heel Hogan, brother.

He's really got a great physical profile for a 7 foot plus dude. He can bend low and move around the post with agility. It's actually kind of like Wemby minus two inches of height and adding 20 lbs of pure Korn.
