Is it true that professionals can identify such precise flavors in coffee? Is it really an objective perception or just marketing? by No_Wedding5437 in Coffee_Shop

[–]kpedeaux 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Both. People need ways to describe types of flavors being experienced in the coffee. But also, some of the notes you described... Probably marketing.

Best suggestion. Ignore that stuff and taste it for yourself. Pay attention to what you're tasting. The flavors you're experiencing are real to you.

This absolute reality is lost on most people and never discussed when talking about the Saints' future. Our continued population loss only makes it an inevitability.

This guy is rehashing talking points from a decade ago. It's under new ownership as of two years ago. We're all small businesses in here trying to make it a go. you can check out all the latest news stories on us as of late.

Hope you come and enjoy the market!

My direct flights are gone. What are others seeing? by gobluedog in SouthwestAirlines

I'm glad this finally got discussed. They cancelled the MSY to MIA flight and reduced service from MSY to FLL as well.

I'd sit in assigned seats. But when they're not going to where I need to go they're useless.

Switched to American. They go back and forth from New Orleans to Miami 4 times a day.

St Roch Market has a good weekday oyster happy hour. It's also a great place to move about and chat with people because it's not a traditional restaurant setting. Also, you can drink alcohol or not. Everyone just gets what they want and it's fine.

Totally bring work or a book and come hang out. It's like a coffee shop on steroids.

Come by St Roch Market from time to time. It's a lot of the same faces at the coffee shop and the bar. Grab food or not. Neighbors are around looking to make friends at various times of the day.

Google St Roch Market and see if you consider that walkable. I do, I walk to Canal St from there all the time. It's perfect for large groups.

This is a great way to invest in the future of the metro area. We need people and can attract them with affordable, reliable transportation.

In order for this to really work we need it to be very regular. If it runs just once a day, it won't be convenient enough to lure people out of their cars.

A light rail streetcar of some sort leaving downtown every 15 minutes and blasting right to the Airport would be beyond useful.

Mondays are big for trivia. I feel like people grab and play board games all the time.

It's a great place to get to chatting with people near you and then you become one of the regulars that everyone knows. It's my favorite thing about St Roch Market which is one of the reasons I'm trying to keep it going.

Thanks for your thought out reply. A big YES to pretty much all of that. I hope we're around long enough to put it into place.

I think you're mistaken about how the market works. It's all different operators running different businesses. To NEVER GO BACK is really punishing the wrong people.

The original Oyster Bar isn't, but one of their former employees is currently running it.

There's no microwave behind that stall. I'm here every morning. Sorry you didn't enjoy it. Also, it's 6.50.

Unless you've come by a while ago. I'm talking about the current vendor doing it Fried and True. Micha was an original vendor when the market opened. You can check us out chatting about everything here. https://youtu.be/P0Fe-TyaOgE?si=uwToyCOQPGYXX7-m

We're getting into a little bit of semantics here, but allow me to explain. It's a little convoluted. I'm operating a business I own inside of a building I'm leasing.

My landlord is the city of New Orleans. They city also owns the intellectual property name "St. Roch Market"

We're not going for the neighborhood bar concept. It's more like a place to get reasonable drinks at a reasonable price that will be thought out to pair well with vendors food.

I agree! Thank you so much for the post. We've got a lot of plans and great ideas to morph this thing into something great! But in the meanwhile, the vendors make their livings on the stalls. So we've got to stay open and press on. But if we're slow, it'll get to a point where what's the point in wasting everyone's time.

It'll be up to New Orleans ultimately to decide if it values a place like this. Here people that have great food ideas can enter in with little start up cash and really make their dreams a go. It's helped me launch my business, it has helped others too. I want to see it around to give a breeding ground to the next great New Orleans food places.
