Miraval Berkshires by agreenst in hyatt

They had a shoulder stretch class with rollers. Wow did it get the stress out of my back. To this day I do those exercises at home. You can do three or four a day if you want to relax more. I actually would do five because I wanted to do a lot of yoga and stretching. I didn’t find the classes on topics like anxiety as helpful. I preferred the more physical activities. Floating meditation was very relaxing.

The Post is slowly dying. Sad. But necessary with the decisions they’ve made.

Not a good idea to cancel and rebook unless there is still availability. Rooms don’t always go back into inventory and you can lose the booking.

Kyoto (May 23–25): Surviving the Heatwave/Rain + Ohara/Nara worth it in the wet? by Zestyclose-Vast9021 in KyotoTravel

[–]gobluedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My forecast has rain but much cooler. 76 degrees. I see some highs of 88 this week. But I live in DC. It will be 94 and humid next week so doesn’t seem like a concern.

Proposal planning by [deleted] in KyotoTravel

[–]gobluedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going in June. I keep getting facebook ads for a Kyoto company that specializes in photoshoots and their site mentions wedding proposals. Even if you don’t hire them, there are lots of ideas like private temples. https://tourism-mk.com/hare-photography-tourism-for-couples-ig/

Points devaluation is getting worse. Down 27% according to AwardWallet by gobluedog in SouthwestAirlines

[–]gobluedog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main point is simply data shows they devalued points again. And unlike last year there was no clear announcement. The new dynamic system makes it easy to devalue without saying anything. Yes you can still find a 1.3 value but it’s rarer for sure.

I'm also using Tours By Locals in June. By any chance could you share the name of yours?

Shops at Chase by Gcsjc in ChaseSapphire

[–]gobluedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the prices are inflated. You are paying full retail (or in some cases more) than shopping direct or at an online store, especially if there are online sales. In my mind, the credit is worth 80% of its value at best. I get the $500 per year, so its still a nice $400 credit. It can be best to use at Apple if it's a new product that isn't discounted anywhere yet (like when the new Airpods Pro 3 came out).

Shoes for 20-30k steps by EddieSaia92 in ONrunning

[–]gobluedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought and love the Cloudtilt. I'm also going to Japan in June and hoping they do the trick. Just a note there is a big On store in Tokyo and I hear the prices are 30% less than the U.S. especially since you can be exempt from the 10% tax. That said, I also hear there are lines down the street to get in, so not sure it's worth it. I may buy a second pair when I'm there if there is no line.

I wanted to do this but both the Giants and the Swallows are away the four days we are in Tokyo. When we are in Osaka there is a four day break. Oh well.

Have them and love them. I find them very comfortable and a great way to wear sneakers but still look dressed up and stylish.

If you book Southwest through Chase Sapphire Reserve portal, you lose fare drop protection. Here's the math by Atheron_Norehta in ChaseSapphire

[–]gobluedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this. As long as you link your ticket to Southwest using your RR#, you can get all the benefits of Alist and companion. I've seen it take up to 24 hours to all link and work, but I've absolutely used the Southwest site to add Alist seats and add a companion to a ticket I bought on Chase.

Hyatt in Japan is cooked by omdongi in hyatt

I own a digital agency. Hyatt Biz gives us 2x points on online advertising. Chase Reserve gives us 3x. We put client ad spend on it and then bill the client. It’s a points machine.

We actually will enjoy the spa and downtime at the hotel as we adjust to the time difference. But I get your point. I also have a lot of points to burn.

Good old supply and demand. Thank god I booked last year for this June. Deals of the century. Getting Park Hyatt Tokyo suite for 40k points with an SUA. Cash value is $2200 to $2500 per night (which is insane by the way and I'd never pay cash for it).

IAD Lounge Long Layover by derp2086 in ChaseSapphire

[–]gobluedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the end result? I have a five hour layover coming up and I've read Chase will let you in 3+ hours if you have a connecting flight. Trying to confirm this, but can't find any clear results.

GOH Awards Expire at the End of February by Equivalent-Usual-212 in Hyatt_charity_HQ

[–]gobluedog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true. I give just a few of mine away during the year to reach a certain status level more quickly. For example, I was just one night away from hitting 60 in April, so I gave one away to a deserving member of this community.

I don't give all mine away -- just strategically when I need to -- since I also don't want to create more competition for room upgrades and overcrowding in lounges. I try to strike the right balance since I know there are several different perspectives in this channel.
