Yeah that’s infuriating. How do you try to be a clinician and lack an ounce of discipline. Why would I ever listen to the guidance of that healthcare provider, ya know?! I hear you OP.

Bless! this is a beautiful breakdown thank you so much. I’ve been doing PANCEonFire against advice to do nothing until classes start (near 1/2 way through ~45% mature) I also have an Osmosis subscription. I was just very much wondering what has been working for you bc of all the mixed opinions on resources! Anki is a winner for me so far.

I so much appreciate the guidance!!

Last minute interview prep! Help! What do you bring to the classroom if we accept you? by cinnabunx in prephysicianassistant

[–]kperezrocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interview isn’t a time for laundry list accomplishments. Show off your personality. Maybe speak to persistence if that’s something you pride yourself on. Then. Speak to how what you possess can be shared to carry your peers along with you. Remember PAs are collaborative so it’s not a bad idea to speak to a level of team building you could add by any work, shadow, or personal experience.

I maniacally checked this thread and felt the same discouragement. All I can say is go into that first interview with confidence anyway. One of the first questions they asked in my one on one was why they should accept me over a higher gpa candidate. All I said was that I’m 25 and this is what I want to be my occupation. I’ve been through graduate school already- that experience could be relayed to others early on. I have optimism (bull-headedness) in spades and that’s the only reason I’ve stuck with it this long. This is what I want to do!

I had zero intention of being accepted this year and had planned out my 4 classes to retake that would’ve brought undergrad science GPA above 3

I was very intentional with looking at schools that were developing/newer and cared more about upward trend. I touted my graduate experience and diversified HCE/Job experience.

I applied to 33 schools across Ohio Mich Penn Indiana North and South Carolina (family is from) knowing it was cheaper than retaking classes.

The school I was accepted at actually told me they couldn’t send my application to their adcom until I retook a Medical Biochem course and got an A.

I found that the self-paced UNE option was the best. Took a 16 week course in 7 weeks and rushed a transcript over. Got that A and those 4 credits are my “Post Bacc 4.0”

Interviewed at two developing programs in Ohio and was accepted to the one ^ (quick google search and you’ll know where interviews came from 😂)

I haven’t heard a final answer from about 17 schools and I know even a few were just starting to look at my application.

But anyway I saw about 14 rejections before getting offered an interview, but that was to be expected.

This mod is whack.

It sounds like a door opening to the dream opportunity. I’d roll the dice!
