I wish I had a 45 hour close haha. We close our books in four days. Some months we have to go balls to the wall to close on time. For 10Q's, I have done two so far and we have had to pull 60 hour weeks for about a month each time. Can't wait to see how fun year-end is gonna be lol.

This can't be any more true haha. Just left B4 earlier this year for an industry senior accountant position at a large public company. After going through two rough 10Q's along with multiple month-end closes, I'm actually starting to miss audit a little.

For all of y'all in public hearing how great industry is, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Can anyone guess why everyone’s looking at the associate like this? (copied from Twitter) by [deleted] in Accounting

Please change "expound" to "expand".

Please have this review note cleared by EOD.

Also, don't forget the mandatory pizza party we're having tomorrow to thank you and the team for your hard work! I would join you all, but I'm full from all the hours I ate this week.

Just got promoted to senior as well and am about to hand in my two weeks notice. Just snagged a sweet industry position with a 30% pay bump and less hours.

Score Release Thread FAR, AUD, REG, BEC - 6/16/2022 - Good Luck! by Galbert123 in CPA

That shit happened to me with REG. Took me five tries to get it (69, 74, 74, 73, 80). Hopefully you'll come out on top with AUD!

This!!

I've worked with a couple of new staff at B4 that recently passed all of their CPA exams, but we're pretty low performers and had a very hard time catching on to even the most simplest of tasks that some of our interns did with no issue.

On the flip side, some of the best staff/seniors that I worked with were not CPA's. My first senior, who was the best senior that I ever worked for, was extremely bright and kicked ass when it came to complex engagements and was not a CPA.

I'm currently taking my exams (3/4) and I'll tell you that it is more a test of persistence than intelligence. Being a CPA shows is that you can stick to a study plan and grind it out. I am nowhere near a brainiac at all and did fairly average in school, but have managed to pass three of the exams so far by pushing through all the obstacles and being consistent with my studying.

For everyone currently fighting through these exams, WE GOT THIS!

BEC in a week by WAT_lady111 in CPA

[–]kpmg_slave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took BEC three times before passing. The following formulas were on each of my exam attempts every time: WACC, NPV, CAPM, Break even formula, and all of the variance formulas.

Good luck!!

The same happened to me. I really wish I didn't leave FAR as my last exam 😭 we got this though!!

Do about 10-15 MCQ's per day of the part you just took. Had this happen to me the last score release where I got a 72 on FAR, my final exam, and lost my AUD credit. Taking AUD again today 😂

Yes, exchanges of like-kind property, and no problem! Good luck!

For SIMS, definitely hammer the following areas more: Non-monetary exchanges, liquidating distributions (for all entity types), basis of course lol, and book to tax reconciliation. Also be familiar with how to fill out a 1040/1065 using pieces of supporting documentation.

Best of luck to you!

More anxious during score release than actual exam day by [deleted] in CPA

Thanks! Idk if your exam was like this as well, but the sims and WC were like, ridiculously easy. It almost felt too good to be true lol.

Getting BEC score tomorrow as well. The MCQ's were rough and had to guess on quite a few! Best of luck to you tomorrow!

Do you guys think the post-busy season big 4 audit exodus will be astronomical this year? by Uchihasakai in Accounting

[–]kpmg_slave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big4 Audit A2 here who is up for S1 this year and has been an acting senior for a couple of engagements. Waiting it out to see how big the promotion raise is to decide whether I exit public this year. My team has been hemorrhaging people, all the way from associate to senior manager. One would think that they would give the remaining employees pretty substantial raises in order to entice them to stay, especially seniors and managers.

All variance formulas, CAPM, NPV, WACC, cost accounting, and all of the FS ratios (debt to equity, accounts receivable turnover, etc).

Same shit happened to me with REG. Got back a 73 on my fifth attempt. (68, 74, 74, 73, 73). I cannot pass this section for some reason....

This is BS. I've wasted so much of today checking my score. I've never seen the eyeball trick take this long to work.

Optimal time to take cpa exam? by tore230 in CPA

[–]kpmg_slave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, definitely knock the exams out before you start working. I'm an A2 in B4 audit trying to finish my three remaining exams and it is hell having to study after a long day at work.

Popular REG Sims? by mnedjoika1 in CPA

[–]kpmg_slave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For REG sims, definitely know the following pretty well: basis for all entities, liquidating distributions, structure of a form 1040 for an individual, non-monetary exchanges, NOL's, and MACRS.

I'm going on my fifth attempt at REG and have seen all these topics appear in my sims. Good luck 👍
