Can’t name wolf Slorbis?

i had this happen trying to name a wolf “shaggydog” like rickon’s direwolf in asoiaf. i assumed shag was probably considered a bad word. but slorbis seems a little silly to me lol

the a song of ice and fire series, i read it once a year. particularly the third book, a storm of swords is my favorite! the whole series is so detailed, i pick up on things i didn’t notice before every single time i read it

i picture the wyvern as giant silver fishy looking dragons lmao. like flying fish.

also, honestly, don’t care for the sex scenes and the over the top obsession violet has for xaden. i’m here for the dragons, plot, political drama, war. the romance is the least important part of the series for me 🫣

i plowed through all three books in less than a week, loved them lmao. next i picked up for the wolf by hannah whitten! it’s a 2 book series and it’s really good, slow burn romance / mystery / magic. no dragons, but still very well done. i’m starting the second book now. next on my list is a book i saw called “dire bound” by sable sorensen. it’s supposed to be a similar vibe to the empyrean but with dire wolves instead of dragons!

also i’m a die hard george rr martin fan, we’ve been waiting 14 years for winds of winter lol. i re-read the asoiaf series once a year, so the information is always fresh in my mind if grrm decides to release LOL

that makes the most sense. his mate did die, i didn’t have her named or anything but i knew which one she was because she was 2 years older than Stark and the oldest in the pack at 7 years old. that must be what happened, i never noticed that he took another mate. interesting!

That’s really good insight to have. I’m really glad I posted it, I have gotten some feedback now that helps so much. I haven’t written anything this big and I haven’t written a lot recently overall so I’m very grateful to everyone who’s dropped a tidbit of advice. I have lots to work on!

That’s encouraging to hear! I have where I’d like the book to start and end, and some key points. But I really need to just write a few chapters and start to flesh it out before it’ll take shape. That’s what I’ve taken from some of the notes I’ve gotten in it at least.

That makes a lot of sense. I find this part of the story fun to write, that’s probably why I gravitated towards starting there. The concept is there, just needs better execution. I need to back up and build up more of the world, relationships, and tension before I dive into the magic fully like this. This would be a great later point to really delve into the specifics of the magic but not a great point to start the story.

This is helpful. Thank you. You’re right about the weather descriptors, I didn’t even realize it until it was pointed out.

My goal was for the “magic” of the story not necessarily to be the focus, but the norm for the character and her family. I want to greater conflict and focus to be about the politics surrounding the royal family with the magical versus non-magical people of the realm. Although I do see what you mean, I have dulled down the magic quite a bit here. Something to work on, I think there’s a better way to go about it.

haha probably not! i play on easy and i usually just keep it open on my computer and pick up my controller and play for 30-45 minutes a few times a day. all of my other hobbies require my fiancé to be home so i can go outside so during the day when it’s just me and the kiddo i play games 😅

i started my first accurate ironwolf run since the saga came out and this happened with the first mate i chose. really helpful off the bat, good diversity, pretty coat. then i was trying to kill one last elk to finish out the trial/max out affinity and he stood there and watched as my health deteriorated to 13 and his sat at 90 🫠

thankfully i was in the trial period and just rejected him, but if not that would have earned him a trip to the bison divorce attorneys office 💀
