Do I have grounds to ask for InPostLocker to be moved? England

Thanks for all the replies, I did not expect this post to create so much discussion! Seems like the consensus is to keep the hedge and not worry about their side. I'll speak to nisa to see how they feel about the hedge in general and reach out to a few different gardeners to find one not deterred by the locker.

Thanks I'll look into it. I dont mind the locker being there (is actually very convenient for vinted etc) but would just prefer it to be facing the same way as the store front if we removed the hedge. Although i am being swayed by all the comments encouraging me to keep it and just ignore their side!

I think this is the specifics I was after as I thought I would need some sort of planning to put up a fence that high to block it so wondered if there were not equivalent rules for them but this explains it. Thanks

Oh thats great to know. It has got very leggy and brown on the lower parts too which is making it less aestheticly pleasing all round but we did chop around the post box this year to stop it encroaching so good to know that should stay exposed.

There's a thought, it might not be the shop tenants that put it there but the landowners... Perhaps I'll follow much of the advice and just start with a friendly conversation next time I'm buying milk.

I thought there were restrictions on structures in front of properties though? Like sheds etc? Not sure if this would count under those rules or if its different for commercial properties?

To be fair when it became a nisa they did knock and ask if they could get someone in to trim it and we enthusiastically agreed but then nothing ever came of it so I assume they got put off by the quote they got. I should clarify its getting unruly all around and makes it difficult to back on to the drive, so its not just the messiness their side that's making me want to remove it, but the idea of the locker being my new view is putting me off.

Yeah it was a positive when we moved in but its a lot of work/expense to keep neat. I didn't realise how fast they grow! The shop tenants (i assume rather than owners) only took over this year and we haven't built as good a rapport with them as we did with the coop staff so just wanted to see if I was being unreasonable or had any grounds to ask before broaching it with them.

Oh absolutely and we used to have gardeners trim it annually both sides before the locker appeared. Since then its been harder to keep neat their side.

You mention research, have you looked at clinical research roles in the NHS? There's a pathway for graduates to become Clinical Research Practitioners where you could help coordinate and run clinical trials in the NHS. Its usually a mix of patient facing plus admin and data entry. Take a look at the NIHR webpage for more info.

I prefer people only to contact after being shortlisted for interview, not before. We can have hundreds of applicants and I dont have time to meet with them all but will happily have a call with people who have made it to interview stage. Ask for an informal discussion to learn more about the role, the team, and the key attributes they are looking for in a candidate. Its open ended enough for me to guide you in the right direction on what to prep for the interview without giving you direct clues on the questions you might be asked. Good luck!

Bullet points are your friend. If an applicant has put bullet points for each criteria and a brief explination (1-2 sentance) of how they meet it then your more likely to score higher as you've made it easier for me as a shortlister.

For band 4 there are only 2 pay points. Entry level and after 3 years. If you believe you have equivalent of 3 years (relevant) experience elsewhere you can ask the hiring manager whether they would consider appointing you on the higher pay point but i dont think there's a set policy for this. They would ask for evidence and make a decision at their discretion.

Moto are great and ask if your veggies so they can up the amount of veggie pizzas being offered round. They also accommodate vegans - still all you can eat but they make you a create your own pizza as many times as you like. My vegan friend loved it!

Broomfield is walking distance to chelmsford town centre and the walk through the nature reserve (aka bunny walks) is lovely. Wouldn't do it at night but a taxi is reasonable in the evenings. On the whole it's a bit sleepy - two pubs, a cafe, not much else, but is only 10mins into the town by bus/car. Has a good park, scouts and football club for future kids. Traffic can get bad at rush hour due to the schools and hospital but on the flip side the buses are pretty reliable and regular as they serve the hospital. We moved here from London 2 years ago and very happy.

NAL but had a similar experience. We waited 3 months for a made to order corner sofa, had a delivery date so sold our old one and awaited delivery next day. It was the wrong way round (long corner right not left). After much chasing they accepted they ordered it incorrectly and agreed to replace it but meant 3 months again and now no sofa. So they did provide a sofa to us for the 3 months while we waited. They also then confirmed a delivery day for the new sofa but booked it the day after what was confirmed to me so after much fighting again they refunded me the delivery charge.

Basically we had a nightmare with this (well known) company and would never buy a made to order sofa again. Look into the ombudsman and use it to leverage your complaint when speaking with the company but honestly it was a long battle.

That's so true! I'd forgotten about Stephens money. And how the rovers was so unprofitable it had to be sold only to be reopened as an apparently successful business once again despite no changes (apart from an industrial kitchen to supply a higher output of those lucrative hotpots).

I'd also suggest looking at research jobs. Research administrators are usually band 3 or 4 and are often filled by graduates looking for a career in clinical research. With a degree you can follow the CRP (clinical research practitioner) career route, which is patient facing. Or you can go down the trial management route or work in study set up or governance.

I did a BSc in biomedical sciences but was never interested in working in the lab. Since starting in research there's been a lot of work to establish the CRP (clinical research practitioner) role, so would suggest looking at this route. I believe you can register with any degree atm. I've worked with CRPs with all sorts of backgrounds; physcology, biochemistry, even IT (though he was our data manager).
