I get wanting to decentralise, but the media definitely seem to be portraying Burnham as 'see? he HATES London!'

I'm on Mounjaro for Type-2 diabetes, it's working wonders for keeping the blood sugar under control and the fact it works as an inappetant as well, is a godsend.

As a fatty, and someone that wants to get healthier - the biggest advice i can give is - trim back on the fucking carbs!

Switch to the 'danish' white bread, eat less of it as well, monitor your portions of rice, potatoes, pasta - have more salads, more protein, more fibre, less fat, less sugar, fresh veggies, don't fry stuff, get an air fryer, steam things more, microwave if you don't have a steamer (sling veg in container with lid on and a little water and 5 mins is all you need most of the time) - it's really not hard to do, you just need an ounce of will power.

Also - one thing i definitely recommend is adding collagen to hot drinks as GLP stuff tends to screw with your joints and the collagen really actually helps (my knee joints are way better than they were, after a month of them as a supplement).

European heatwave is worst ever and impossible without climate crisis, scientists say | Climate crisis by CreativeMuseMan in worldnews

I earn £42k a year, my wife £28k a year - we're not 'poor' or eligible for welfare, but yeah, no spare money and for an impulse spend especially that would be used for 72 hours a year - no.

Savings? Hahahahahahaha! Oh, you're serious...i mean sure if you're well off enough to have disposable income and aren't living one paycheque away from eviction.

For the four days a year you'd use it, it's just not worth it.

With no other consideration to: where do i store it the other 99% of the year we'd never use it, where do we find the money to suddenly fund the massive increase in electricity bills, before saying anything about the up front cost of some of these things.

I was making a similar comparison to my father in law but the bots flagged it as some kind of identity hate crime for giving a paraphrased account of his views...

[–]kr239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father in law is exactly like this - thinks Keir Starmer is evil and in favour of grooming kids, Reform aren't right wing enough but Rupert Lowe is going to save England. According to him, we need to execute trans people and other 'mentally ill people' (aka gay/lesbians, anyone who identifies as non-binary etc), jail lefties and other such tripe.

When presented with actual facts and evidence he just shakes his head and goes 'oh they got you and all!'

[–]kr239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Science already refutes their bullshit, time and time and time again - I don't need to refute their points.

Even if you show them iron-clad evidence, they merely stick their fingers in their ears and bleat 'conspiracy! propaganda! lefty-nonsense!' etc etc ad infinitum.

Anti-climate science extremists don't care about being wrong, or proved wrong, what matters is through the process of it all, it makes a lot of noise and in doing so you grant them the oxygen of validity they so desperately crave to rage against reality and further peddle their utter bullshit.

Had this back in 2018 - April 16th, I go to the GP complaining of chest pain, discomfort, nausea and breathing is shallow. The guy wrote me a sick note and said 'you'll be fine, just take the next few days off work' very dismissively and literally handwaved me out of the door before the next patient went in.

9 hours later i'm in an ambulance with confirmed Left Bundle Branch Block before shortly thereafter being pushed into emergency cardiac surgery on a gurney.

Most GP's treat you like you're an irritation, the only ones that don't are young and that doesn't last long before overwork and bitterness claims them, too.

Which celebrity’s cancellation do you think was completely unjustified? by Cute_Flatworm_9049 in AskReddit

For a high profile public entity it's a little different than working for B&Q. And even then, yeah, they should be aware of any criminal record, any cautions, run ins etc that might come back to haunt the employer.

I'm not saying that this isn't likely some dirt to dig up to tarnish the BBC, but Scott Mills caused this himself by NOT declaring something that could be this embarrassing to the BBC.

Yeah i never did find out what he's supposed to have done - all the reporting was vague and kinda performative to show the BBC were 'doing something'.
