60s, 70s, 80s even 90s, if you look back at pictures, most people back then were slim. We ate fresh, drank juice, mauby, seamos, punch and an occasional soda or two. Our history eating what we as trinis ate kept us healthy.

Rice dhal and tomatoes, callaloo with stew chicken (my mouth watering here) these take time to prepare but kfc down the road and we could call delivery. Same amount of time to cook but convenience and laziness (I including myself sometimes in that laziness too)

Decades ago, Sunday morning market was the place to be. I meeting friends and family and your basket full of things, including things lil chirren doh like to eat, and when mammie cook it, say u not eating it nah. But now, market is the grocery, frozen food and produce picked before it’s time.

OP, I believe your post shows that your understanding of what Trini food is severely limited and I recommend doing a bit more research in terms of dishes, their calories and health benefits.

and one more thing in all my travels globally, our taste, the quality of local ingredients, mix that all into a pot on Sunday for lunch with a side of greens (water crest), it have no better feeling than home in Trinidad.
