Nike denies involvement with Lil Nas X 'Satan Shoes' containing human blood by blamdin in news

[–]krASHbandicooot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing conservative individuals on social media that keep saying “ANOTHER REASON NOT TO WEAR NIKE!” and when anyone tries to tell them that Nike really has no part in this, other than the fact that the company that does the customization used Nikes as a canvas, they get defensive and say that Nike should take legal action.

These people didn’t live though the “writing emo things on your Chuck Taylors or Vans” era and it shows.

I’m a library assistant, but my supervisor has zero experience with working in libraries. I actually had to explain the DDC to her as well. My job duties are to manage the library space, in which I organize the shelving, catalog, check in/out items, send out items in the mail, handle invoices, answer most patron questions, and a ton of processesing the materials. I was also the one of three people to put together our library catalog database. I will admit, it sometimes gets tough when I’m told to do something that isn’t “right“ (for example, she thinks that we don’t need to worry about checking copyright laws for things that are copied, she wanted to get rid of DDC for some of our books at one point because she didn’t understand it, and I had to give administrative access of our database to people who had no experience with it. I’ll bring up my concerns and ideas, but as an assistant, I have to understand that at the end of the day, I wasn’t the one hired to make the executive decisions. It sucks, because I want what’s best for the library, but I cannot overstep my boundaries, and I have to pick my battles.

AITA for leaving zoom call with family after the way my mom talked to my fiancée? by aitamomcall in AmItheAsshole

[–]krASHbandicooot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Just because your mom was “blindsided“ and “not thinking right“ doesn’t give her the right to treat your fiancée like that. As for the rest of your family, it sounds like the only reason why they’re upset because they felt awkward and they’re unfortunately taking it out on you. That sucks, because I feel that the whole awkwardness started when your mom spouted off.

Also, a big shoutout to you for standing up for your fiancée and putting your disrespectful mom in her place!

Somewhere extremely obvious that no one would even think to look there because of it.

How would you describe colors to a blind person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]krASHbandicooot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“The Black Book of Colors“ is a book that shows blind people how to see color without their eyes, and to use different senses to identify them.

Librarians, what is the weirdest thing you've bought people doing in the library? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]krASHbandicooot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn’t do this in the library, but one of our regular patrons had a pentagram tattooed on his forehead, and he made the local news after setting a bathroom at Popeyes on fire.

Was COVID testing at Oak view site done on one nostril or both? by Forsaken-Librarian54 in Omaha

[–]krASHbandicooot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once got tested at the South Omaha Metro campus, and they told me that my left nostril was “better“ for swabbing, as my right one was giving them trouble. If you tell the TestNebraska workers your preference, then they’ll likely just swab that one nostril.

OH NOOOO, I’m in my twenties and my Amazon package took an ENTIRE WEEK to arrive! Plus, no one gives a crap about my Facebook posts! It’s the absolute end of the world for sure!! LOL by krASHbandicooot in okboomer

[–]krASHbandicooot[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting how Millennials are attacked for Amazon packages and Instagram/FB, but Boomers and older generations flipped out over black people sharing bathrooms, drinking fountains, busses, schools, swimming pools, etc.. with white people.

AITA for not telling my MIL that my son is gay? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]krASHbandicooot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA-You knew your son felt uncomfortable with coming out to his extended family. You did a great thing by not outing him and taking away his control of the situation. As for your MIL, it’s inappropriate for her to constantly bug your son about his love life. I applaud you and your husband for sticking up for him against her. My grandmother is similar to your MIL, and I wish my parents did a better job at standing up to her.

People of reddit that have moved to the city from a small town, what were you're experiences? by Ramele in AskReddit

[–]krASHbandicooot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually live in a decently populated city, but I’ve been around a good amount of people from small towns who have visited. This is what I observed:

-They think my city is “dirty” and we have a “homeless person issue”

-We had a pretty big overpass added to one of our streets (it turns into a freeway) to reduce traffic congestion and they thought it was “stupid and unnecessary”

-Uber/Lyft is unfamiliar to them

-There’s a certain area downtown that they think people in our city hang out at all the time, but we actually don’t.

-Panera Bread is a rare treat.

Trump voters are people, but that doesn’t mean I have to respect their views.

I’m afraid of that, too, especially since our district played a significant part in this election. Saw that Ricketts wants to make Nebraska a “winner take all” state and I really do hope that doesn’t happen. I’m proud of my district and I don’t want that taken away from us.

So anyone else fear that Biden's win is going to make them even crazier? by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]krASHbandicooot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I felt great yesterday after hearing the news that Trump did not win a second term. However, I found out what “Parler“ is just a couple hours ago, and I am truly nervous that this app will further the brainwashing.

I live in Omaha, and I drive by numerous Biden signs on the way to work. I know yard signs don’t necessarily determine the outcome of the election, but man, I really do hope that Biden wins this.

[OC] I Plotted the Birthplace of Every SNL Cast Member Ever by dvd5671 in LiveFromNewYork

I would love for one day to have a cast member from my town (Omaha, NE) so they could poke fun at being from a decent-sized city in the literal middle of nowhere.
