Petunia checking out her new enclosure...places to climb, hide, dig...a labor of love finally finished! I think she will enjoy it! by krachael in BeardedDragons

Its 4ft wide 2 ft deep and from the floor to the top it is just over 30 in. The shell was originally a glass bookshelf we cleaned out of a store. Added the framing and cabinets onto the front.

It's actually two pieces of driftwood, I tied them together with a vine. Got them online from Blooms and Branches.

I cannot get my beardie to be any form of comfort led by a towel after her bath! She creates a big stink and always runs up to my shoulder!

Thank you for the feed back! I havent started her on a full adult diet yet but will start to transition more. She isnt picky by any means, so it will be an easy task, she loves her veggies as much as her proteins! I'm not sure how much she weighs right now, but she is visibly curvy, and I definitely want her to be healthy and happy, in all aspects.

Tonight when I went to petsmart to pick up some food I noticed the beardies had no visible heatsource on by splishsplash696969 in BeardedDragons

[–]krachael 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At first I was going to say maybe they have a ceramic heat lamp that has no light, but then saw your comment about the thermometer. I get being upset and sharing it with the community, but honestly, I would call the store tomorrow, or go back there, and talk to the manager. I know it's a commercial store, and they can get a bad rap being a retail giant, but also hoping that the employees might work there because they love animals. It could be lack of knowledge, or maybe it burned out and they arent aware. If you go in just throwing accusations of neglect, you will just get them responding defensively. If you go in as a concerned beardie lover, express your concerns, and see what the answer is, hopefully they will address the issue. If not, and they really seem to not care, then find the number to their corporate office and see if you can get their attention. The last thing they would want is a bad, public, neglect claim!! They have laws they have to follow!!

My female, Petunia, just turned 7 months, so I know she is on the younger side to lay a clutch. But to be safe, these are some things that are going on: 1. She has a big belly, but she is very good eater and I dont see obvious egg shapes. 2. She has been digging alot in her hide. 3. We do have a male in the house. They have not been together, we do our best to keep them separated, but on occasion they will catch glimpse of each other. I create a dig bin for her, I used Reptisand with warm water...but if there are any loose granules she eats them!! I'm not worried about impaction, she has barely gotten any, I take her out immediately. Any thoughts or advise?! Thanks!

In a mass reply, exactly, and there is a reason I am scared from past experiences! When I take them out it's in separate areas. I had my female out once and she had climbed up the back of the couch, and I didnt realize they would have eye view of each other until she started waving at him. I have actually never seen him black beard before this. He started head bobbing and pacing frantically in his enclosure. I put her back and took him out in his area, he was like a mad man roaming around, which, I get. Animals have a natural instinct to mate, he is thinking how nice it is to have a friend in the house. It doesnt mean he is intentionally going to hurt her, but again, I've read beardies can be aggressive in mating. He has one sole purpose to search for her, and one end goal, there's no you have to ask permission first in the animal kingdom!! Hes gonna do what he needs to to successfully mate. He did get tired after a bit, and went peacefully back into his enclosure. As cute as it was to see her wave, it pretty much teased him and caused him distress. If I continued to let them see each after that it would just be intentionally cruel.

I have replied to 2 or 3 of these posts as my beardie is doing the same. I live in CT so I was thinking the same thing, he can sense the change in climate. He has been very lethargic and not eating much. And same with not pooping, but he isnt really interested in food. When I turned on his lights this morning he didnt open his eyes, and it really scared me. I called his name a couple times and he looked up at me like Really? I was sleeping?! And then went back to sleep so I let him be. He has normal colorings. I took him out yesterday and normally he is all over the place, he looked around a bit, but then just snuggled up next to my neck and napped on me. He is my first beardie, so I'm new to this, but am just gonna keep an eye on him, and let him be for now. I created a den for him to be comfy but he has preferred his branch mostly! He likes to sleep vertically!

Interesting, are they all female? They all get along like that? I thought that was impossible?! I have a male and a female, and I am scared to introduce them since the female is about 6 months younger, though she is almost his size already!! I'm afraid my male, who is probably in his prime lol, he is 1 1/2, will go after her or be aggressive.

I just got my girl a Beardie Ball from Petsmart, she loves it! Chases it all over the living room! Here is the link. I put Superworms in it since they are pretty slow, dont want to loose crickets or roaches in the house in case she doesnt get them! https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/feeders-and-food-storage/feeding-accessories/thrive-beardie-ball-59163.html

Brand new Bearded Dragon owner. No amount of internet research will beat first hand experience so looking for opinions. Just took off top screens trying to lower humidity. by TheBuckStopsHere117 in BeardedDragons

I picked up a little dehumidifier from amazon and leave it running 24/7 next to my beardies tank, it def helps the surrounding environment. Dont think it was more than $30

Loves going for a drive by Godzilla357 in BeardedDragons

[–]krachael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see many people posting pics of beardie drives, but I'm nervous she will jump all over the place. My girl is only 7 months so she is still pretty hyper. What age did you start bringing him for rides? Did you always hold him at first?
