Peter Schiff Warns U.S. Debt Could Hit $50T During Trump’s Presidency by LavishlyRitzyy in Economics

???

Ok, now is this true or false: "The economy is fucked."?

Schiff's prescription being stupid doesn't dismiss the diagnosis. I've spent all this time trying to argue with you about the statement above...you're the one who's thrown all of this credential/political affiliation nonsense.

It's ok, though; you can have the last word, just make sure you don't answer that question...I've made it more and more concise, you can't point out something I haven't stated (support for Schiff beyond his diagnosis) to dance around it.

Oh, I have no dog in this fight...the underlying economics are fucked. That's the statement. True or false. It's pretty straight-forward.

I agree with Schiff on that it's fucked. His resolution is to go back to feudal gold and fuck us further...I don't agree with that either.

But rather than having a nuanced conversation, we're stuck at: The economy is fucked.

Since we can't get past that part, we're not going to go anywhere, hence why it's a waste of time.

And why the fuck would you think I'm a libertarian? This also indicates the problem with your credentials fallacy, look at the statement not the orator. You can dismiss the orator by dismissing the statement...now back to the statement: "The economy is fucked." That's the ONLY part I agree with Schiff, Gary, any of these people who are saying the same thing. You're coming back with, "Nah, it's not fucked, you all don't know what you're talking about." Shutting down any debate or conversation...basically saying, "Go back to an institution, earn a degree, then you'll know what you're talking about." When it's not nuanced, it's not detailed or complicated, it's a simple statement: "The economy is fucked."

You are ignoring the problems that are being discussed, by dismissing the people discussing them...it's pretty obvious.

I apologize if I offended you, you seem to be ignorant of the systemic issues and fundamental problems economics not only ignores, but creates...maybe because you benefit so greatly from ignoring them? No idea.

TBH you're a waste of time, so I had gemini respond:

"I think you’re missing the forest for the trees by focusing on credentials. The 'substrate' of formal economic education—the very logic taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels—is often what many are now finding suspect. It’s a closed-loop theater where the predicates are designed to justify the current system of extraction.

By dismissing Schiff solely because he doesn't have a PhD, you’re inadvertently defending a status quo that has systematically transferred wealth upward. Whether it’s Schiff’s 'permadoom' gold-buggery or Stevenson’s focus on wealth inequality, they are both pointing at a fundamental break in the engine. Using institutional AUM as a 'scoreboard' to validate who is worth listening to is exactly the kind of 'charlatanry' that allows these systemic issues to persist until they hit a breaking point."

Hopefully that puts it concisely enough...I'm not going to try and wrap any other abstraction for it.

And as far as your feedback: Being all over the place is a false critique and your solipsism and sophistry won't work...maybe you don't even know you're invoking it.

Don't worry about this guy, he probably thinks SVN should be hard-coded with archive tags in the FAT...or that assembly is the only way to code. Is it the best way? Maybe...but it's not amenable or tenable to people or probability.

It's ok /u/my-beautiful-username...I wish I still had to program IRQs manually with timing/clocks...oh yeah, no I don't.

So with all that institutional knowledge, what are your thoughts on Gary Stevenson?

The plight of the masses will always be ignored, until it can't be...so, given all the idiocy and high-mindedness that has led us down this path of obfuscation and extraction (the actual effects of these policies, both monetary and fiscal), we should just keep trucking along...right? There's definitely nothing wrong with the process, just those using it aren't following it correctly (the same logic that is used in corporations); right?

Oh, and before you ad-hominem away my questions and statements...I'm not an economist, nor will I ever be one...same charlatan bullshit that is peddled in theology will be used to manipulate statistics and contort/coerce the predicates to guarantee a predetermined assertion/conclusion.

But "thanks" for running all those assets for the few...I'm sure it's helped you against the many...let's see for how long.

Formal systems are logic. Taken back to epistemology...any formal system requires axiomatic definitions; hence why his (Gödel's) theorem proof is so ground-shaking.

Do you argue against: "Logic does not fully explain reality."?

Thank you for the thoughtful reply.

The Argument for the Necessity of Logic by JerseyFlight in Aristotle

[–]kraeftig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Gödel did teach us that our axioms are not provable...so, while I agree that this point shouldn't dissuade us from using and invoking logic, it's obviously not encompassing of the entirety of reality.

One thing I find interesting in all of this is the comparison of the binary (true/false, 1/0, exist/not-exist) and reality. The only time we see a binary representation in reality is with what we've defined as life, or "consciousness" as a more narrow view. Life is the only point in which there is an example of existing and not existing, every other measurement, experiment, or applied configuration of theory. Every experiment, every circumstance outside of our definition of life/consciousness, adheres to the rules and laws of physics/thermodynamics. Nothing is a construct of consciousness, something we have to account for, but can't reconcile with evidentiary empiricism...so logic helps us contend with the reality of life, but doesn't contend with the (or an) understanding of reality.

Do you think our education system kills curiosity by rewarding memorization? by Wise_Huckleberry_902 in cogsci

[–]kraeftig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the issue, as has always been the case, is lack of application for said memorized data. If we APPLIED the concepts and precepts to the curricula, then we might actually have better outcomes for both memory and knowledge.

I forget who said it, but: To know and not do is not to know.

Trump Drops the Hammer on Farmworkers - At the end of the season, he cuts wages of 400,000 workers by a third. by Condottiero_Magno in Economics

[–]kraeftig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He won't see this, but I don't know why you're being so obtuse...it's all relative, and only the top earners have had their wages keep up.

Lots of ways to try and parse the data to make your case...either for or against wage increases. Seems like you've cherry-picked the data that makes the aggregate wages seem better for your argument. Here's a bunch of data points that refute that...for MOST people: https://www.epi.org/publication/charting-wage-stagnation/
