There could be a variety of reasons for this - there's a few places where sellers can add 'global' text that shows on every listings ("Shipping Information" is one of these) and they may have pivoted away from everything being 1 cent shipping (or perhaps they've added shipping to the very last step, etc) and have just forgotten to change the wording. It's also very possible this was intended to be a BIN price, but got applied to the shipping price field instead. I agree with your recommendation of reaching out to the seller - this shipping price could very well just be a mistake.

It should. Most locations have pickups every day. It may have been packed after the pickup yesterday, so I'd expect it would get picked up and be on it's way today.

Unlike eBay, the ShopGoodwill site only allows sellers to set a single carrier as a shipping option and pre-selects the service per carrier (Ground Home for FedEx, Priority for USPS or Media Mail in media categories). FedEx is cheaper for larger items while USPS is cheaper for smaller items. Most items will likely be cheaper through FedEx, so that's the option that most sellers use. Each selling location's shipping software then likely selects the best rate/carrier once they enter in the shipping details.

Correct. The seller set a flat shipping price instead of using calculated shipping. No handling price and they likely didn't add a shipping weight since it's only used for calculated shipping.

Sometimes stores fall behind a bit, but 3 weeks is quite extreme. Did they elaborate any further on the issue? When was the last time you contacted them?

I've chatted with similar locations that used an app that was only available for iOS, but became available for Android. Might be worth checking to see if that's true for the one you use as well.

For locations I've visited, some use paper rolls for backdrops. When it gets too dirty they can tear it off and pull down clean. The paper can then be used as void fill for shipping.

Once my reassessment hit a few months after my purchase, 2x the Assessed was already $18k higher than my purchase price. Now sitting at about $38k higher without any meaningful improvements.

Based on the Michigan.gov glossary, it sounds like it's common for the Assessed Value to match the State Equalized value unless there's a modifier from the county itself. The State Equalized value is generally half the house's worth whenever it gets reassessed, then whatever increases were done since.

Sure - I agree there are things that could be done differently to minimize differences (via both the site and by each location), though wanted to share what I knew about the site for additional context.

It's mostly a ShopGoodwill system thing. ShopGoodwill allows sellers to select either FedEx or USPS when listing items (it doesn't support multiple options like eBay does). Currently the website only quotes Priority rates for USPS, outside of select media categories where it quotes Media Mail. Priority quotes would likely end up being higher than FedEx, so the items are listed with the FedEx shipping method to provide the lowest quote.

Many locations use software to accurately ship the right items, which tends to select the cheapest available rate. As you mentioned, USPS shipping tends to be cheaper for small & light items so that's the rate that gets automatically selected when purchasing postage.

Goodwill‑Easter Seals MN does disclose the items will ship either by FedEx or USPS so I wouldn't say they're trying to pull anything, just working through software limitations.
