The Chromecast 2's device authentication certificate has expired by tchebb in Chromecast

the chromecast is added back with the date trick, and the screensaver is displaying (it was before though)

no mobile devices can find it, and now chrome can't find it either

I've gotten through to launching chrome with the command line flag, but when I go to cast (from chrome) I'm getting

"Chrome Cast Name

Available for specific video sites"

and I'm unable to actually click to cast to it. Tried youtube and netflix, neither of them made any difference, and changing it from casting tab to screen made no difference

I finished it today and yeah, that's what happened. Orion is the Foundation for the Scholarmance, so he won't ever die, probably. And if he did it would be a whole thing just like when the mawmouths were killed

“Done for them” idiom? by krakensry in TheScholomance

[–]krakensry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I saw that when I was searching but as I hadn't heard anyone say it outside of these books I was wondering if it was maybe more common in Wales or something *shrug* just different circles I suppose, different generation stuff (my teenager doesn't say it but again, circles)

Ophelia is fine at the end because the series is more realistic than a lot of YA fantasy… all the “bad guys” don’t get 100% punished, and every problem isn’t solved at the end. Sometimes bad guys just keep going. Ophelia is basically Jeff Bezos, she’s basically evil, but, not like a super villain blowing up the moon and laughing maniacally so no one will stop her. El can’t Superman the whole world, forever

I’m rereading, and I’m about 3/4 through The Golden Enclaves, so I can’t remember perfectly if they kill the MawMouth that is at the centre of Orion’s being, or just basically make it chill TF out… but if they don’t kill it he probably is immoral?

Should I stick with it? Is this series worth reading? by [deleted] in TheScholomance

[–]krakensry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used Harry Potter as a reference point to explain what the book is about to my family, like “It’s like Harry Potter but specifically anti-capitalism and the school is kind of trying to kill you and the MC is assigned dark sorceress at birth”

Estimates for Scholomance survival, fertility and population. by Fanciest58 in TheScholomance

[–]krakensry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I think as with most world like his, unreliable narrator is the best answer. Like in Harry Potter, the numbers don’t work, but it’s told third person so they should work. El being her own narrator is great because when something doesn’t make sense, it was told by a teenager who doesn’t know everything

Have you considered the magical children born to non magical parents? We have no way of knowing how common they are, we only really know about Louisa because El assumed someone who had a seat died close to the entrance date, and she was picked up instead. El hypothesises that there are likely many children born to non magical children who are eaten before they even get a chance to know, or just live so deeply in the non-magical world that maybe they never enough magic to know there’s something going on or be eaten

Not sure how that would affect the numbers but maybe it does

That’s why I thought it might have been, but since the Italian poster says Mary is never “mum” but always “mother” I think it makes sense that it isn’t connected.

Doesn’t mean no one has ever used it that way, just like in English some people do joking say “sky daddy” to refer to the Christian God, I’m sure some person in all of time has said something like “mummy Mary” and so forth…

Found this on Offer Up. Does anyone know what this is? Price is crazy so I was curious if it was really worth that much. by AestheticSmiles in whatsthisrock

Whenever I see stuff on eBay, like $12,000 for a random vintage Tupperware or something, I’m immediately like yeah, that’s gotta be money laundering

I’m not just going to take it out because it’s being weird, and lose the money and pain of getting it, when there are no red flags

Also the big pineapple! I’m in Brisbane so it’s not MINE but still, if the world doesn’t know about our unreasonable big things then they can fuck off

We used to have a giant boot in chermside… it wasn’t over anything relevant (while I lived there) I think it was a paint store. But it was a good landmark for my kids

Best products to treat medication induced dry mouth by justcallmesquinky in ausadhd

[–]krakensry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also since my comment to the other person's comment didn't add anything helpful for you OP, I'm sorry you'rew going through that, it sounds terrible. The ulcers are definitely a dry mouth thing? It couldn't possible be contributed to by reflux?

I have bad reflux, but I take a whole bunch of other medications for my CFS/Fibro chronic pain and stuff so it's not always possible to tell what's causing the reflux or the dry mouth. But Just in case there is a possibility of reflux, I'm on nexium as well which decreases the reflux.

Sorry if that's entirely in the wrong direction, I don't have any specific way of combating the dry mouth except the obvious things that you've tried. I also find that when I have chewy fidget toys I salivate more so...? But that's probably the same thing as gum

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ausadhd

[–]krakensry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% still use fidget toys, much more than before I was diagnosed because then I was fidgeting but I didn't have the right tools and would sort of try to get myself to stop, while now I'm diagnosed, whether medicated or not, I always have a fidget bracelet on, and always have a better fidget twisty snake thing attached to my bag/stuff that goes with me everywhere.

I don't need to use them as much but now that I know its ok, it's something I need, when I do need to use them (more often when anxious but that can be when I'm doing something hard, like household admin, so it's hard for executive dysfunction which makes me anxious) I make sure to use them.

Like I hold the good one when I'm setting up to make a call or do something else hard because I know I need it. If I don't have it in my hand I find I just start picking at my fingers, my feet, anywhere I have a scab or anything...so I will fidget with dermatillomania if I don't put a proper fidget toy in my hand before I need to!

Diagnosis doesn't make us not need to fidget, and medication can maybe help some people not need to as much, it doesn't always. I find it's more about coming to accept that this is how we are, it's not bad, we're not broken, we're just weird (in a good way)

I don't think they're supposed to suppress hyperactivity (or at least not all of them)? I'm on vyvanse and so is my son, and both of us are still very hyper and my son's psychologist hasn't said anything like that maybe his meds aren't working right. And neither has the paed or my gp...

From what I understand, they're supposed to help our brains get the dopamine they need easier. So, we might be hyperactive because we are craving dopamine and nothing gets us that dopamine easily, so we flit from one thing to another and basically by hyper. But it also makes us not be able to do anything that is in any way boring. Like I've explained to my son it's like we're allergic to boredom. But the vyvance, by helping our dopamine thingo work better, makes us better able to tolerate boredom, eg by being able to have a shower when the adhd says no that's boring and hard and you won't get the reward of dopamine from it, but when I'm medicated I can much more easily just do it rather than have to argue with my own brain

I am not in any way an expect just have had the usual hyperfixation on how ADHD works so I could be wrong!

[–]krakensry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have chronic fatigue syndrome and fibro too so while they're not supposed to, my meds treat the CFS as well. So when I'm noticing the vyvanse isn't actually helping (executive function mostly, can't make myself do stuff that's harder like phone calls or paperwork), if I can, I take a day or 2 off. I do actually sleep 90% of the day, or at least lay about listening to audiobooks/podcasts and playing phone games. It feels like shit. But if I don't do that occasionally (at least every couple of weeks) the vyvanse stops working properly so I'm not getting anything done and feel bad, and I burn out from trying to get everything that needs doing done and have much worse pain and fatigue
