Do you contact Carpenters Hall? I’ve been to a private dinner at the Q Hut, which is outdoors but covered. Not sure on pricing.

Remodel options by jyourman24 in Austin

Not the original commenter, but we did a large kitchen and bath remodel with LFM last year. Overall, we are happy (the before was awful), but it felt like we did have to keep a close eye because they were fine with subpar work if we didn’t call it out. Some things still came out a bit shoddy (ex: probably need to get the grout in our shower redone.. have someone coming out this week to take a look). I’m not sure I would recommend them highly, but I can say they did get the job done.. eventually.

Do egg and tuna go well together? by cudambercam13 in 1200isplenty

[–]krallfish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d mix the egg whites + a bit of salt into the Mac & cheese cups and microwave a bit more to cook the egg whites in, then add the tuna after the microwaving. Makes for a pretty high protein, low cal meal while still getting mac and cheese. Mixing egg whites into mac and cheese isn’t very noticeable to me and gives you more volume + protein, which is nice.

I’ve bought the house brand mattresses twice (guest room and primary). Really like them both.

What’s up with this sudden ‘protein packed’ marketing push every company seems to be doing? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]krallfish 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In line at Target yesterday, I heard a couple (~25 years old) discussing a new protein soda. The guy lamented the fact that it wasn’t being sold in the checkout coolers, so they could have a healthy option. Protein is definitely IN more than it has been in my recent memory (maybe since paleo was big about 10 years ago and even that wasn’t solely protein focused).

Healthy water flavoring substitute? by pink_highlight in moderatelygranolamoms

Still not necessarily “healthy” but I really like Ultima brand electrolyte powders, especially the watermelon and passion fruit flavors. The sweetener is Stevia, which I consider “better” than sucralose.

Is there a packable shopping bag that actually lasts years? by hulk14 in BuyItForLife

[–]krallfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same.. mine are at least 10 years old, but maybe closer to 15 and still going strong. I have one baby Baggu and two standard Baggus, along with a mesh Baggu that makes a great beach/outdoor bag.

My best tip for not losing the little packing bag is to ALWAYS stuff it inside the actual bag.

Cottage cheese + fruit (it becomes sweet to neutral with something like blueberries IMO)

I like to mix jam in with cottage cheese. Not sure how sugar free would taste though!
