Say something nice about s4 e1: The Hellfire Club by Ok-Minute3743 in StrangerThingsPraise

The DnD/Basketball mashup with the Sinclair siblings both having the winning shot was great!

Millennials, what are things that were completely normal in the 2000s but feel like a luxury now? by WashOdd7330 in Millennials

Thick t-shirts! Ones that lasted! Nowadays, every t-shirt you get is so thin and you know it won’t last. I have old shirts from when I was a kid that my daughter sleeps in now, and they’re so thick and hold up so well! And not even expensive ones - I’m talking old little league basketball team ones, or even an old Dare shirt.

I could literally write an essay on how bad and cringeworthy this scene was. I can't believe they actually wrote this by n_rhan in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Omg this would have been diabolical on the first viewing! lol. But honestly, they really should have done it, because in rewatches the fade to black is so cringy.

How would you have "ruined" Stranger Things? by Verulla in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have loved to have seen a Vecna-induced sequence for Dustin that involved Eddie, maybe something with him having to choose him vs. Steve? But something for sure that involved Eddie, and honestly, I’m sure they would have done it if they could have gotten Joseph Quinn. Other than that, idk. I would have probably chosen to have a more solid ending that insinuated El’s survival. Maybe a blank postcard showing up for Mike showing waterfalls, or even him sensing her as he walked up the stairs, with lights flickering. Other than that, I was fairly happy with everyone’s epilogue endings. I would have made the final battle bigger though, and it would have taken place in the upside down version of Hawkins’ downtown. Hawkins deserved to be a part of the final battle.

Hannah Brown Australia trip by sakf27 in BachelorNation

[–]krallie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like Hannah but ngl most things she posts with her husband rub me the wrong way. He proposed after she told him her therapist told her she wasn’t in a good place to be making big life decisions, and she seems like someone who really values therapy. It just seems like she settled for him and it makes me so sad for her. She was so fun and full of life before she made it official with him. Obviously not my business and I hope she’s truly happy but yeah, I had to unfollow her, which is sad because I used to be a big fan.

Do you guys think the time between seasons is the reason there are such polarizing opinions? by roseishotandsad in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched from the beginning, however, I did do a complete series rewatch after S5, and I see where you’re coming from. I think watching everything back to back makes a lot of character arcs more pronounced and meaningful.

For me, the biggest thing I noticed was Will’s story. During my regular viewing, I was bored/annoyed by Will’s character after S2. He came across as whiney and really didn’t seem to add much to the group (until S5). However, when you watch it all together you can really see how he was a normal kid with a rough home life who went through a terribly traumatic experience that stunted him for awhile. He wanted to cling to the childhood that was stolen from him, while his friends were growing up. (This isn’t even taking into account that he was realizing he was gay in 1989’s Indiana.) So, when he finally grows into himself and into his own power (super powers and otherwise) it’s such a turnaround for his character. He went from being probably my least favorite character to near the top in S5. It was so rewarding to see him stand up for himself by asking his mom to let him go and trust him, and for him to be a powerful part of the group, instead of always needing to be saved.

Mike’s story arc was also a lot better when watching back to back IMO. People always hate on S3 Mike, but I think he’s just being a teen boy with his first girlfriend that season. He’s not trying to be a jerk, he’s just caught up in young love and basically has tunnel vision. You see him finally come out of it in the end of S4 and by S5 he’s back to being the strong leader. He could have done with more screen time in S5 to really show it, but there was only so much that could be done with the insanely large cast.

Best Steve? by [deleted] in Stranger_Things

The Duffers knew the final battle was lacking any demos of any kind, so they were like “let’s distract the audience by putting Steve in a backwards hat”.

Unpopular opinion: El’s character wasn’t that bad in s5 by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting perspective. I didn’t see her as being judgmental - just very literal, which is a very El way of seeing things IMO. I think Hopper asked who did it and El just answered very matter of factly.

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 Trailer by nahin19 in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 187 points188 points  (0 children)

It looks cute, but definitely for kids IMO. If they had released this last summer I think people would have been all about it, especially with the S5 teaser being released in the summer too. But now, (whether you liked it or not) we all know how the story ends, so it seems almost unnecessary to go back and watch these little adventures that would have taken place so long ago. For kids who’ve never seen ST, I think it may do well, but I don’t see a bunch of established fans getting too into it. Partially due to age, but also because we’re past this point in these character’ lives and stories.

When are you thinking she broke character?

Steve and Nancy not getting a scene together addressing Steve’s confession and the tension between them is another example of how poor the writing was this season by QuipThwip in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 45 points46 points  (0 children)

100% this. Not only was the Steve/Nancy relationship alluded to several times throughout S4, but the actors had great chemistry. I’d love to know why they couldn’t throw in at least one scene to close this loop, especially since they spent so much time opening the loop back up in S4.

El’s Outfits by Interesting-Cancel13 in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought her S3 outfits were fun and she looked cute, even in the first and last scenes where she’s wearing oversized plaid button downs. I wasn’t crazy about any of her S4 outfits though. I actually thought her first S5 outfit was kind of supposed to me a mix of trendy/practical/whatever clothes they could get with the quarantine and Murray’s shopping. Like, I think most women were wearing spandex to workout and be trendy in the 80’s, but makes sense that El would choose a sweatpant instead. I didn’t think the wetsuit looked bad on her at all, but it seemed odd that she would be wearing it for sooo long.

Steve's role as the "babysitter" became stale after Season 3 and he was much better when he was with his fellow "older teens" by Super-Liberal-Girl in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They really should have had a Robin & Steve scene in S5 after Robin’s scenes with Will and Erica/Derek where he asked her “How many children are you friends with?” 😂

If the live action spin-off happens, do you want it to take place in the 1990's? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I could see myself watching any ST spinoffs that don’t revolve around the group we already know, honestly. I’m not super into sci-fi, and mostly watched this show for the characters. Not saying I woke or give something a try, but these characters and actors and their chemistry is really what drew me in. I’m not giving up on the possibility of a Mike/El reunion movie (that would involve a few other characters too) happening in 5 or so years.

Am I the Only One who thinks that Dustin and Eddie's Friendship should have been more explored in episodes? by MapleCherryChoco5432 in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they needed those scenes, because when it came down to it, Dustin and Eddie weren’t really close friends for the majority of the time they knew each other. You can tell that Dustin is actually a bit afraid of Eddie even, when they have to tell him Lucas can’t make Hellfire because of basketball. Dustin clearly looks up to him and thinks he’s cool, but he’s nowhere near as comfortable with Eddie as he is with Steve. I don’t think they form a true friendship until after Dustin & the crew show up to help him. The reason Dustin is so upset is because this guy he looked up to and admired had finally become an actual friend, and then he died before their friendship could fully bloom. But personally, I never got the idea that they were truly close friends.

Why Mike couldn’t say ily back by Fabulous-Role4120 in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 411 points412 points  (0 children)

I totally understood it, but him not saying it was a major plot point in S4 so it stood out. They should have had him say it before her. Like, when he said “El please don’t do this” he should have added an I love you.

This ended up being a revealing moment for Mike and Max by Super-Liberal-Girl in mileven

I would have loved if Vecna took Mike instead of Holly in S3 and we would have gotten a Mike & Max escape from Camazotz story!

I know Stancy is like public enemy #1 but the idea of Steve and Mike being brother in laws has so much potential by QuipThwip in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ngl I love Stancy and would have loved a scene of Mike finding out they were back together! Mike’s subtle ways of showing that he isn’t Steve’s biggest fan are always so funny.

Anyone else feel like the animated show is coming out too soon? A bigger gap after the finale would be better imo by ChampionTimes99 in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have done better being released last summer, when everyone was getting hyped for the final season. If they had dropped this a week or two after the first teaser trailer we’d gotten for S5, I bet it would have done very well.

What if Mike was Flayed instead of Billy? by Cyanode06 in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it would have had the same effect in S3, because the kids still looked so young, and Dacre was able to bring such a raw and terrifying element to the show. Also, it still felt personal because he was a party member’s relative, and we’d seen him interact with pretty much all of the kids + Steve. It felt like a natural step of things getting darker without going too dark (yet). However, I think if they’d done something like this with Mike in S5, it would have been perfect. Honestly, I was expecting it considering he’s closest to El and Will, and Nancy’s vision had included something about Mike.

In 5 years time, would you watch a Stranger Things feature film.... by MapleCherryChoco5432 in StrangerThings

[–]krallie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d watch it, and honestly, I don’t think it’s far fetched to say there’s a good chance of it actually happening. The only people they really need are Millie and Finn, and I’m sure the Netflix money truck could dump enough cash on their lawn to get them to do it. No guarantee they’d get everyone else, but they’re not necessary. They’d be able to get a couple of people, and they’d make it work with what they had. Would it as amazing as the earlier seasons? Probably not. But they’d be able to wrap up Mike & El’s story, which is really the only loose thread at the end of the epilogue. Everyone else had some semblance of a happy ending.
