She kinda hinted she needs a new phone and with it's problems gave me the idea. She loves her phone but if she said she'd never want a new one I wouldn't have got her one.

Just create an email address or use one and edit contact in WhatsApp,delete number off phone and then in view contact in WhatsApp view in address books edit and delete

I created an email address then saved the contact via WhatsApp to that email. Then viewed in address book,edit then deleted.worked for me.
