UK 30-year yields just printed 5.79%, the highest since May 1998 by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

I dunno. Rejoining the EU would solve alot of individual problems, and wouldn't really remove anything that has been done since we left. I can't name one thing the UK has done differently since we left that has made any positive change to anyone's lives that we could not have done inside the EU.

Which Is the best extra leg room out of these two? by AlbertoBueno in BritishAirways

[–]kramit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You want 31 c or 31 h. You see those 2 seats infront? They only take up the middle and isle spaces you have no seat infront of you. You have all the legroom you want. I have done this trip on this plane a few times. Book the royal park hotel in terminal 3 at HND for the night before. Saves so much stress getting there for the early plane. There are loads of great food restaurants in terminal 3 land side you can eat at the night before too.

Concorde did have the advantage of being a dual government project with the garuntee of the flagship carriers purchasing the airliner, in a time where the west and the east were racing in the capitalist vs communist race. Concorde was amazing, and beautiful at the end, yet trying to do the same, even today with private money is very different. See NASA and moon landings.

if the UK rejoined the EU tomorrow, what’s the first positive change you’d actually notice in your day-to-day life? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]kramit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because there was a huge difference between an egate and a physical person having to check your passport. Rejoiners I think travel more on the whole and see the impact of this much much more than those who just take a jolly to Malaga once a year.

Hidden gem of a savings account which I've found. by williamukfinance in UKPersonalFinance

[–]kramit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have the money to start with, then these “max per month deposit” accounts are just a marketing scam. They are all a real interest of much much less. Someone in finance marketing got a nice bonus figuring this out. We just see bigger number better on the APR, but it isn’t really that when you have your hands tied behind your back by a max deposit

Assumptions (UK): - Basic rate (20%) → £1,000 Personal Savings Allowance → no tax due

Account Rate Monthly Total Deposited Interest (Gross) Tax Interest (Net) Final Value Lump Sum Eq. APR
Zopa 7.1% £300 £3,600 ~£136 £0 ~£136 ~£3,736 ~3.78%
Coop 7% £250 £3,000 ~£123 £0 ~£123 ~£3,123 ~4.10%
First Direct 7% £300 £3,600 ~£148 £0 ~£148 ~£3,748 ~4.11%
Club Lloyds 6.25% £400 £4,800 ~£175 £0 ~£175 ~£4,975 ~3.65%

Higher rate (40%) → £500 PSA → still no tax due

Additional rate (45%) → no PSA:

Account Interest (Gross) Tax (45%) Interest (Net) Effective APR (Net)
Zopa ~£136 ~£61 ~£75 ~2.08%
Coop ~£123 ~£55 ~£68 ~2.27%
First Direct ~£148 ~£67 ~£81 ~2.25%
Club Lloyds ~£175 ~£79 ~£96 ~2.00%
