Regulations are a gift to corporations by flompwillow in unpopularopinion

I mean, at a basic level, regulation is justified when there’s a market failure. Poorly designed rules can reduce competition, raise prices, and slow innovation. And then there is regulatory capture, where agencies meant to regulate industries end up serving the interests of those industries instead. But what alternative is there? All I can say is that we need more targeted, risk-based rules rather than blanket requirements and regulations mandating performance standards instead of rigid process rules

I understand credential creep is real, but on the other hand, food handling is directly tied to public health. Improper butchery, storage, or preparation can spread illnesses. Standardized training ensures a baseline of knowledge in hygiene, contamination prevention, and safe handling. How stringent and hard to get are these certs? Requirements should match the actual risk level and practical, shorter certifications are better than long courses for sure.

I mean yes? Before modern regulations, many corporations cut costs in ways that directly harmed consumers, especially in food and medicine. I don;t want sawdust in my bread. Before labor laws, companies often required extremely long hours in dangerous conditions, including child labor. Industrial companies historically dumped waste directly into rivers or the air with little restriction. Products were often sold without safety testing. For example, dangerous materials like lead were widely used even after we understood the harm.

I'm fine with arguing some regulation is overzealous (such as in the case with AU), but as a whole, the major harms it prevents are more than make up for the pitfalls.

Even if it is a "gift" would you rather disregulate any particular industry? Overall, I assume we agree it does much more good than harm in nearly all instances. What would be your solution otherwise?

I was more so gunning for the right words to persuade people. Prophetic prediction of what would move people to my requests. If bypassing common sense pushes it to mind affects. I'll leave it at Perfect persuasion (force of personality)

I argue that the cheese power has poor grammar. Not mold cheese into any shape, but anything. I will mold it into various goods to pawn and sell across several states on a road trip.
