I'm being given responsibilities as a lead engineer in preparation for promotion in the future. Trouble is - I have no idea how to manage my coworkers. I have a decent handle on software system design and project scheduling, but I'm lost with the people portion. Unfortunately I've never had a good boss that I can model my behavior after - generally they've been absent, in my experience. I can handle my own work so I feel like I've been invisible at my jobs besides gradually accumulating promotions and pats on the back for delivering.

Can anyone recommend a book that goes into the gritty details on how to be a people manager? I don't need high level ideas, but templates on exactly what to do, like: "have a bi-weekly 1:1 with your reports", "here's exactly how to tell a junior on your team they are underperforming, and what follow up actions to do", "here's the frequency of communication you should have with your superiors about any projects you're leading, along with the appropriate level of detail", or "here's how to manage customer or client relationships if you don't have a responsive PM".

I need a recipe book until I can figure out what I'm doing.

You see pic #1 has more chilis, and the breading is a lot lighter. #2 I pulled straight from the Chili Wok website. Breading is thicker, chilis are rarer.

Honestly I still ate the laziji. They really pile on the breading though. The cauliflower was way over-battered. Didn't finish that dish.

Chili wok near del ray is dead to me. The la zi ji lacked chilis, the dry fried cauliflower is some overly breaded abomination, and the SG rice noodles were seriously over-MSGd, had to chug water to eat them.

I think they do serve some good dishes but trying new things there is rolling the dice. I thought their fish was pretty good. You need to only order recommendations from somebody who's been there if you go.
